Angels Fans Finally Got Their Wish… Arte Moreno Is OUT
Sep 1, 2026
Artie Moreno is actually selling the Angels, and not only that, he's doing it for a record-setting
price. The record sale price for a Major League Baseball franchise was recently set by the San
Diego Padres at $3.9 billion. This deal is reportedly even higher than that. And yes,
this is really happening. Moreno has agreed to sell a controlling interest in the Angels to
Stan Krenke of Krenke Sports & Entertainment. And if that name sounds familiar, it should.
Krenke already owns the LA Rams, the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rapids,
and Arsenal. Now, he's adding the Angels to one of the biggest sports empires on the planet.
But what makes this more shocking is that we've already been through an Artie Moreno
sale saga before. In August of 2022, Moreno announced that he was exploring a sale of
the Angels and there was legitimate interest. A sale looked possible. And then, just five
months later, Moreno abruptly pulled the team off the market and said his family had unfinished
business. Apparently, that business is finished. Moreno's tenure is always going to be complicated.
The Angels were successful early, but they haven't made the playoffs since 2014 and somehow spent
years with two generational talents in Mike Trout and Shohei Otani without building a postseason team
around either one of them. Angels fans have spent years begging for Moreno to sell. Now,
they're finally getting their wish. The Artie Moreno era is ending and it's ending with the
most expensive franchise Major League Baseball has ever seen.
