I Shot SLAP Rounds...Again (Shooting SLAP Rounds For The First Time Since My Incident)

Five years is too long, Mr. Slap Round. I'm not scaring you no more. I'm shooting it. Yes! I knew that would work out. I can't believe all this time I've had this fear. Darn it! Are you serious? Oh my goodness. Hope the views were worth it, you big idiot. What's up everybody? My name is Scott and you're watching Kentucky Ballistics. And five years ago I had a very tragic accident involving a .50 BMG, a fire hydrant, and some slap rounds. And if you live under a rock and you have no idea what I'm talking about, I highly suggest you go check out the original video or go check out the podcast that I just did with Brian Shaw on the Shaw Strength Podcast. The original video was filmed just a few weeks after my accident and a lot has happened since then. It's been five years. I've had a lot of time to digest and process everything that happened and I explain a whole lot in that podcast more than I've ever said before. So I highly suggest you go check that out. But let's talk about today's video. I have some unfinished business with a fire hydrant. This exact fire hydrant was my co-star five years ago and it never got its final shot with a slap round. When I switched ranges, I brought this with me. This is the exact hydrant from that day. We have a hole here in the top and I believe there's several other holes here in the bottom. But the coolest thing about this fire hydrant is right here. We still have a .50 BMG bullet sticking out the other side. It never came out. A 15-inch neck scar and five years later, I vowed that I would never shoot slap rounds ever again. But today, we're going to break that vow and face my fears. A big thank you to Denver Bullets for hooking me up with these things. I'm not really excited about shooting them, but we're going to go get set up and get started anyways. So the thing about slap rounds is they won't fit in just any .50 BMG. I was using a CERBU RN50 five years ago that was specifically chambered for slap rounds. I have another CERBU RN50 heavy barrel just like I had that day, except this one will not fit slap rounds. But I also have a Desert Tech .50 BMG and this bolt-action rifle will indeed chamber my slap rounds. So that is what we will be using today and that is the logical reason why we are using this today. I'm not not using the RN50 because I'm scared of it or I have nightmares about it or you know have trouble even being next to it. That's because this one chambers them. That's why. Shut up. My heart is like beating through my chest okay all right we are in and now we just now it's got to chamber it my glasses are all fogged up all right here we go you can see it in there see the slap round oh and it and it chambers it okay it's time to finally close this chapter and move on I think I'm uh I'm gonna do it we're gonna shoot this all right here we go oh my goodness oh wow those kick a lot harder than I remember what a rush oh let's go check out that fire hydrant all right mr fire hydrant you finally got your final shot we hit right there and let's see if we made it to the other side this is definitely a fresh hit because this was not like this before and right there I believe the round or at least a piece of the round is buried in those threads I would say that was a pretty good final shot on mr fire hydrant here but I have a few more slap rounds with me today and a few more targets I want to test them out on so let's go have a little bit more fun with my PTSD shall we so one thing that I always wanted to do with slap rounds that I never did was shoot a car and see if I could disable a vehicle well I would say this is the one to do it with so I'm gonna back this thing up over here next to the fire hydrant we're gonna take a shot at it with a slap round I tell you what most time when you shoot a car the hood's down you can't really see what's happening I say we lift this hood up and we'll set up a camera right here so you can get a really good shot of what's happening here get us another slap round going in the pipe all right all right oh my goodness we hit that directly I think I don't hear it running anymore oh I dropped my gun again so I hit pretty much exactly where I was aiming we hit right there just kind of went through this little hole here and then we hit our engine block right there you can see that fresh little hole and I guess we went straight into the engine and I guess shut down one or two pistons and it eventually died actually I can see where it went through the firewall and hit a bunch of hoses so that means it went completely through the engine so one slap round to the engine block of a Honda Civic will indeed shudder down we made it through a fire hydrant we made it through an engine block and now we're going to see if we can make it through some armor this is a premier body armor level four plate this thing will stop just about anything it's designed to stop black tip 30-06 and I've even stopped the 50 bmg full metal jacket with this but will it stop a slap round I'll tell you what those slap rounds are kicking so hard I don't know if I can shoot it again I mean now it's not the mental factor it's more so just like my shoulder is really getting beat up you know slap round versus level four armor plate let's see what happens I'm guessing it's going to go through it all right here we go I'll tell you what I'm pretty sure we made it through that plate man that thing's kicking real hard tell you what let's have a look see well judging from the busted water jug I'm going to say that that thing made it through the plate look at this we've got us a hole a nick right here and then a hole in this glass so it continued on into the car also oh there's our hit and yeah we we made it through the other side this bmg slap round will indeed make it through a level four plate a five gallon water jug and then continue on into a vehicle moving on these next few targets are going to require a table oh hey first try these slap rounds are proving to be pretty effective we've made it through an engine block level four armor and a fire hydrant but now I want to see what happens when we hit some ballistic gel we have two 16 inch blocks that are 10 clear ballistics gel sent to us by clear ballistics I imagine we're going to blow through both but I'm very curious to see what our temporary wound channel looks like big words don't act like you're not impressed I'm very curious to see if this slap round actually stays in that ballistic gel or if deviates out the side or the top got another one loaded up I tell you what I don't know if my shoulder can take much more of this all right here we go say goodbye to the ballistic gel oh man tell you what those are kicking real hard that is quite the experience we have uh quite the scene over here here's our first block looks like we had a good hit and that is quite the wound channel looks like it started to go sideways and it came out the back sideways this table is destroyed and just from the sheer force of that block just energy transfer into that block second block is over here by the car and oh wow okay so we entered this block sideways it looks like you can see that wound channel is very wide and then looks like we traveled through it and then went out the bottom of that like just kind of just sliced that open and then I'm guessing it hit the dirt because I saw a lot of dirt fly up so I'm uh let's see here this was here okay yeah so that came out of the second block and blew through the bottom of this table and then hit the dirt and that's why I saw a ton of debris when we shot this and also I just want to say that this has been really therapeutic you know for me to shoot these slap rounds you know when I get on that gun I'm just thinking about that day and you know it's really meaning something for me to pull the trigger on things and they kick really hard oh my gosh the closed window you know it's very secure let's try this one that's half open okay that'll do it I guess you can carry a blast breaker in your pocket or a 16 inch block of up next we have something that I did not have back in the day when I was shooting slap rounds and that is a ballistic dummy labs zombie bust I'm gonna set this guy up right here and see how effective slap rounds would be against zombies really curious to see what this does to the zombie torso I've wondered this for quite a while actually all right all right here we go I'm not really sure if we hit him or not go check it out well we do have a little bit of green liquid here on the table Mr. Zombie did get hit looks like he got hit right there pulled to the left and kind of blew out the back here and I definitely saw a bunch of dirt fly up so we did not have a direct hit not exactly what I was looking for but that's okay because this video needs a grand finale anyways this final shot is brought to you by SDI and if you want to get your start in firearms technology be sure and check them out there's a link in description down below oh man that was crazy somehow I didn't get nothing on me let's check this out we definitely had a good hit that time with the slap round on the zombie bust here he is completely busted all gone and our gun here it's got a little bit of green on it not too bad you figured it would have been worse but judging from these results and the results of all the other tests today and my 15 inch neck scar I'm gonna say that slap rounds are nothing to shake a stick at what did you think about today's video let me know in the comment section down below and let me know if you'd like to see me use them some more in the
