Before the First Snow is a cinematic classical story about survival, waiting, family, and the strength to keep living.

Before winter arrives, a family needs seed potatoes—not simply for food, but for the possibility of another spring.

The father leaves home to find them.
His daughter stays behind and waits for his return.

The story unfolds in four chapters:

LEAVING → WAITING → THE SEEDS → RETURN

At its heart, this is a story about endurance and hope.

CHAPTER I — LEAVING

01. The Famine

Famine and cold begin the story. The violin expresses inner emptiness and suffering.

02. We Need Seed Potatoes

The family needs seeds for spring. The father decides to leave for their future.

03. The Empty House

After he leaves, the oboe carries the silence and loneliness of the empty house.

CHAPTER II — WAITING

04. The First Night Alone

The first night without him. Every distant sound might be his return.

05. She Waited by the Window

She watches the road. Waiting slowly becomes part of everyday life.

06. Another Morning Without Him

Another morning arrives. The bassoon represents endurance and quiet strength.

07. The Long Road
The road becomes a symbol of distance, time, hope, and uncertainty.

CHAPTER III — THE SEEDS

08. Where They Sold Seed Potatoes

The father finally finds the seed potatoes, but does not know if he can afford them.

09. Too Expensive

Hope meets reality when the price is too high.

10. For the Spring

He refuses to give up. The movement toward D major represents the decision to keep living.

CHAPTER IV — RETURN

11. The First Snow
E-flat major · Solo French Horn
The first snow falls. The French horn suggests distance, memory, and approaching change.

12. Someone Is Coming
G minor → B-flat major · Solo Clarinet
A figure appears in the distance. Hope and uncertainty meet.

13. Father
B-flat major · Solo Violin
She recognizes him. A quiet reunion filled with relief, love, tears, and gratitude.

14. Still, We Live
B major · Flute & Piano
For the first time, flute and piano breathe together, representing togetherness, renewal, and life.

MUSICAL DIRECTION

Inspired by the emotional language of Russian Romantic classical music, the album uses lyrical melodies, long phrases, slow pacing, spacious silence, restrained emotion, and a gradual movement from darkness toward hope.

The instruments also carry recurring meanings:
Violin — suffering → waiting → reunion
Cello — departure → journey → determination
Oboe — loneliness
Clarinet — uncertainty → anticipation
Bassoon — endurance
French Horn — distance → return
Flute + Piano — togetherness → renewal

PROCESS / CREATIVE PROCESS

The album was developed as a story first and music second.
The human creative process determined the story, chapters, scenes, emotions, keys, BPM, instrumentation, melody direction, structure, and visual concept.
Each track was designed as a scene within the larger narrative.
AI tools were used as part of the music production process. AI served as a production tool to realize and develop the human-designed creative direction.

VISUAL DIRECTION

The entire album uses a single key visual throughout the video.
Rather than creating a slideshow with constantly changing images, the intention is to let one cinematic scene remain with the listener while the music and story unfold.
Subtle film grain textures enhance the feeling of an old cinematic photograph.
