Vance Boelter granted speedy trial in state case

Vance Belter, already sentenced to double life plus 40 years in federal court for the murder of House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, has pled not guilty in a separate state case. Despite his federal conviction, Hennepin County is pursuing state charges, with a trial date set for November 2nd. Belter intends to use the trial as a platform to argue his actions were justified.
