AI GeneratedThis video features Balto, a Samoyed, during a professional grooming session. It provides an overview of the Samoyed breed's history, temperament, and health needs, while detailing the specific bathing and brushing process used to maintain Balto's iconic white, fluffy coat.
Here comes Balto, a big beautiful cloud of dog strutting into the salon.
He's a Samoyed and if you've never met one before you're about to fall in love.
We're gonna have a shaker. Samoyeds are one of the most recognizable dog breeds in the world
thanks to their glowing white coats and their famous Sammy smile. These dogs originated in
Siberia where the nomadic Samoyedic people bred them to herd reindeer, pull sleds and most
importantly keep their families warm by sleeping alongside them at night. Nope, no shake. I'm gonna
add some de-shedding. They're true working dogs but also affectionate companions. Samoyeds are
considered a large breed with males typically weighing between 45 and 65 pounds and females
just a bit smaller. They're sturdy, powerful and built for endurance but don't let their strength
fool you. Samoyeds are playful, gentle and very people-oriented. They thrive in active families
that can keep up with their energy levels and they do best when included as part of the household
rather than left alone for long periods. These are dogs who love to work but they also love to be
loved. Like all breeds, Samoyeds have some health considerations. They're generally hardy but can
be prone to conditions such as hip dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy and autoimmune
diseases. Regular veterinary care, appropriate breeding, a balanced diet and exercise are key to
keeping them healthy. And of course let's talk about that coat. This dense double-layered fur
is more than just beautiful. It's a functional survival tool. Their outer coats protect them from
the snow while the thick undercoat keeps them warm but it also means grooming is absolutely essential.
Without consistent brushing, their coats can quickly mat and their seasonal shedding, also
known as blowing coat, is no joke. Samoyeds are high maintenance in the grooming department but
the payoff is worth it. A dog that looks like a walking snowflake. Now, Balto isn't just here for
a spa day. He's also waiting patiently for someone very special. His mom is currently deployed
overseas serving in another part of the world. While she's away, Balto is being cared for with
all the love in the world but I'm sure he misses her dearly. He has lots of shedding hair but it
does not want to come out. Does Balto like treats? Not good enough for you? His chest is the only
spot that's a little bit of a disaster. Let's talk about Balto's grooming routine. We started with
Nasty Critter Deep Cleaning Shampoo to wash away any dirt or grime from his fluffy adventures and
then we gave him a second bath in Fluff Off Deshedding Shampoo. This helps to loosen up that
stubborn undercoat that's really hard to shed. And finally, to bring out the brightest, purest
white in his coat, we use Kris Kristiansen's Whitening Shampoo. This is a purple shampoo.
It neutralizes any yellow tones and makes him shine like fresh snow. After his bath, Balto was
blow-dried completely until his coat was bone dry, which is crucial to prevent matting and hot spots.
We brushed him thoroughly with the Kris Kristiansen Coral Brush, which is my personal favorite for
long-coated breeds like Samoyeds. It gets deep into that thick coat without causing discomfort.
We also clipped his nails, tidied his paws, and polished his look. You like it? Would you like a
treat now? No. Do you prefer salmon? Nope. I prefer nothing. So there you have it. Balto the Samoyed,
freshly groomed and glowing. A loyal companion, a walking cloud, and a dog who clearly loves his
family just as much as they love him. Until his mom comes home, he'll be here waiting, fluffy and fabulous.
Hi Balto. Hi. Oh my goodness, look at you. Oh my goodness, look at your legs. Oh, oh did you have fun?
Look at how clean you are. Oh my goodness, look at you. You're soft. Oh, thank you. Look at you.
