Your dog does not just react to what you do. He reacts to who you are being.
In this episode of Cesar Unleashed, I break down the four things humans do every day that dogs hate, and none of them are about obedience. Dogs read your entire state of being: spirit, instinct, heart, and mind. They hate when we lose our gratitude and presence, when we forget the family is a pack that needs direction and protection, when our love comes from insecurity instead of understanding, and when our mind is stuck in the past or the future instead of the walk we are on right now.
If you are a pet parent dealing with dog behavior problems, a dog that ignores you, or a walk full of tension, this episode shows you where it really starts. When the human reconnects with spirit, instinct, heart, and mind, dogs feel safer, more fulfilled, and more willing to follow. That is how we become better humans and help create calmer, better dogs.

This video explores four key areas where humans often fail to connect with their dogs, causing stress or dissatisfaction for the animals. By examining the spiritual, instinctual, emotional, and intellectual dimensions of the human-canine bond, the speaker emphasizes the importance of presence, leadership, and unconditional love in fostering a healthy relationship.
This is going to be easy.
Four things that your dog hates that you do every day.
Oh my God, where can I start?
All right, I'm going to start in the simplest way, right?
That you forget about the motor code, right?
Because it requires a very honorable human
to do the right thing every single day, right?
So you have to check on your motor code.
You know, that you forget life is beautiful
and you forget to be grateful, right?
Don't just go in automatic and just move in life.
Dogs live in the moment,
so they forgive you every single day,
even if you forget about your motor code and your gratitude.
I'm just talking about the spirit.
We're not even moving yet into the instinctual world.
Now let's talk about the instinctual world.
They don't like when you forget they're pack members.
You know, they don't like it.
They just don't like it because they love family.
They love family more than we do.
And then another thing that they don't like,
they don't have a purpose, right?
A purpose, what's the purpose?
He said, what do you mean a purpose?
To work for food, water, and a space, and the family.
That's it, right?
They don't like it when they don't have a purpose, right?
So not to be part of, like to forget, you know, the pack.
They also don't like when they live in a family
and the family doesn't have the same agreement
because they know that's dysfunctional.
They know that the family is not connected
because they're not in agreement, right?
They don't like when you don't understand
how important leadership is for them, right?
They need that direction.
They need that protection.
If you think of a dog like a human child or a baby,
well, guess what?
A human child needs leadership.
It needs direction protection.
A baby needs direction protection.
The word leadership, it means direction protection.
So certainly they don't like it.
Now let's move into the emotional world.
The emotional world for me is a very simple one.
It's much more simpler than the other ones.
It really comes down to unconditional love, right?
It comes down to that.
I don't focus on any other emotions except love.
Love what a dog is, self-knowledge, right?
The knowledge of what the dog means.
And then to value the dog, you know, for what it is.
And then to love, to love who they are
and to love the value behind them.
And then of course is this,
and to do it in a very unconditional and a healthy way,
right?
So if you follow, you know, my formula,
spirit, instinct, heart, we're talking about the heart.
And so the heart is a very simple one.
The heart just wants to love.
Now let's talk about the intellectual world
that you can actually say, I'm bored.
I'm frustrated.
I'm confused.
I'm angry.
I don't know how to do it.
I have no idea that I'm sabotaging my life.
I mean, it's a long list, you know,
that humans have to excuse themselves
to be their very best, right?
So one thing that I tell my kids all the time,
you know, the mind is for two things.
The mind does a great job when the mind is learning,
when the mind is achieving,
when the mind is giving this away, right?
Because it's just the beautiful part of being a service.
And then the mind also have to learn to not think.
So when you're walking with your dog,
you're just walking with your spirit,
your instinct and your heart,
and your mind is just clear.
It's just not, you're not thinking anything.
You're in the moment, right?
You're not thinking about the future.
You're not thinking about the past
and you're not thinking.
You're just being in this moment.
Okay, so hopefully you understand
that dogs don't like, you know,
when we are not connected to our spirit,
when we're not connected to our instinct,
when we're not connected to our heart
and our mind in that order.
So those are the four things your dog doesn't like
that we do every single day.
