Taipei Hides a Flower & Jade Market Under a Motorway — I Went In 🇹🇼
Every Saturday and Sunday, a Taipei car park under the Jianguo expressway turns into one of the city’s best markets — orchids, bonsai and succulents at one end, jade, silver and lucky charms at the other.
Come on a weekday and you get parked cars. That is the whole trick.
This is Jianguo Holiday Flower Market (建國假日花市) and Jianguo Holiday Jade Market (建國玉市) in Da’an, a short walk from Daan Park MRT. Free to enter. Nobody minds if you only look.
I walked both sides — flowers first, then across Ren’ai Road into the jade halls — to see what an Englishman actually finds here, and what is worth buying versus what is tourist theatre.
