Daryl? Yes sir. How are you brother? Doing great sir. Man, what a cool truck. Thank you sir. Tell
me a little bit about it. Well it's a 1965 Ford F-100. My dad bought it brand new in 1965. It
was Alexander Ford Motor Company in Durham, North Carolina. Only new truck he ever had.
What inspired him to buy a new one? I don't know. He had about a 40, I think a 49 Ford,
and I guess he just wanted to update a little bit. But that was the only one he ever bought.
Was that 65. And my dad always knew I wanted that truck. I just loved that truck. A lot of
memories in that truck. Making little trips and stuff like that on it into town and stuff. And
just a lot of good times with it. My dad had it. He'd done some work to it.
Then it got parked for a little while. Then I got it going again for him. So him and my mom could
enjoy it a little bit. And then he always told me that that truck would be mine when he died,
but until then it was his. He did let me know that. But I just wanted to do this in honor of
him. It's been a lot of work done to it thanks to Scott Sheets and the guys over at L&S Customs.
They really helped me through the build on it. It's a 427 stroker engine in it. C6 transmission.
Prestige Motorsports in Concord, North Carolina. They built the engine in it. And then of course
the good folks here, Steve Holcomb and his group has done an awesome job on the interior of it.
And so we're mighty pleased. That'll be a truck that will stay in my family for generations to
come. My dad, I didn't say this, my dad did call that truck Rustin Red down the line. And so I
guess it was because it was red and it had a little rust in it. But we wanted to honor that
and we've got that in the steering horn button. It says Rustin Red on it. And we're just kind of
proud of that and let the legend go live on. And it's got brakes and a chassis and all that kind
of thing. Yeah, it's got the four wheel disc brakes. Now it is the chassis that was under it
and the front end that was under it. I didn't want to change everything. Just keep some of the
originality. You wanted to still feel a little old school. I want to feel a little old school
because I'm just, I don't know, I'm all about that stuff. So that's what we're doing. When I first
saw it, I told him that interior reminded me of like the new King Ranch interior. It does, it does.
Those high-end Ford trucks. It does, it does. So I think that's cool to have that modern touch that
you can identify with in that old school Ford. Yes sir, I agree, I agree. And you know, we've done
some, Steve's done so good tying the colors together with the white and the red, you know,
and stuff like that. And so I think it looks awesome. Well, so it's Ragoon red and Wilmington
white is the paint colors. That's what it was when the factory, the paint on it is just like
it was that it is designed that come from, you know, it came from Ford Motor Company with.
Well, if people want to see it, you're going to drive it, obviously, but you're going to take
it to some shows, hey? Yes, sir. We will be, the first show it'll be at would be the F-100
Super Nationals in September up in Pigeon Ford. Pigeon Ford. Yes, sir. And that's where you say
you hope to unveil it. That's where we hope to unveil it at. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. And then
show it for a year and then drive it around. Yeah. Yeah. We might drive it. You're not sure
about the driving. I'm not real sure about the driving. I'm pretty, I'm pretty particular about
that. But now that it's this nice. It's hard to drive it when it's this nice and that's,
that's where it goes. But yeah, but yeah, we'll show it. It'll be up here for the
Grand Nationals in the spring. And Scott with L&S Customs in Garner, North Carolina, he wants to,
he wants to take it to a few shows. So, you know, it's, we'll move around a little bit.
I got to ask, what do you think dad would think? My dad would kill me because of the money.
But I think he would be proud. And I want to make him and my mom proud. Right. Because
I just love them that much. I had awesome parents. No, they raised a good kid. Yeah. And
so it's just in honor of them, man, just in honor of them. And it's all I can say, man,
I just want to make them happy, man. I don't know, man, just a lot of work, a lot of money,
but we've enjoyed the journey. And I'm so thankful for good people that have guided me
through this process and steered me in the right direction. Right on. We'll go out and enjoy it,
thank you, sir. Appreciate it. So there you go from Steve Holcomb, Pro Auto Custom Interiors,
a very cool 1965 Ford F-100 with a cool backstory too. I don't know how a family
keeps a car or a truck like that, but very cool when they do. Hope y'all have enjoyed it. See ya!
