Give me time to relax my mind
When we lost you
I dance inside your eyes
How can I be real
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
Precious kisses was the
Burn me
It's worthless cry
If it's love you want
Then take it
In this night you'll see
It's over, over again
My name's Vangelis. I'm 24. I'm from London.
What's the story? Do you sing professionally?
Is this something you've just started doing?
I work part-time in a frozen food shop.
I'm not really used to coming on the big stage and performing.
I normally just sing in my room.
It was quite a big thing for me to come on stage and perform to you.
Great. I mean, I was kind of dreading somebody doing one of my songs
because then there's this weird pressure.
Like, do you turn? But it was actually very good.
Thank you.
You have this great vulnerability in your voice and that song suits that.
And I'll tell you a funny story.
When the record company wanted to put that out, I was really against it
because for me it was really personal and it was about a relationship
and I thought it was too slow.
And I marched into the record company and said,
if you put this out, my career's over.
Little did I know it was the beginning of my career
because when you put songs out that are honest and true,
that's when you really connect with people.
And that was the magic of that song, so it taught me so much, that song.
I've never really heard anyone do any of my songs that well until now.
You know, just to hear you sing that song like that was a gift.
So thank you very much.
And with my experience, I would know exactly where to take you.
I think you're perfect for my team.
You have a really pure, beautiful voice
and I already have someone that I thought might be the winner,
but that may have just changed.
Hats off.
No.
My hat.
The thing is, it was brilliant.
George touched on the vulnerability there,
but we've heard a lot of vulnerable singers,
but not with that level of control,
because vulnerability with control is something that's very difficult to sustain,
even over just 90 seconds.
But over that 90 seconds, you managed to make George rethink
everything he's thought about hearing someone do a cover.
The thing is, you love Culture Club.
The first LP I had was Killed By Numbers by Culture Club.
So I'm in the same boat as you there, mate.
The thing is, this is pointless, but I'm not going to give up
because there might be something in your mind that makes you want to go with me
and I wouldn't want to discount that just because George turned first.
I thought it was really, really, really beautiful and touching
and there's always something really wonderful when somebody takes a song
and interprets it in a completely different way that's creative
and it suits them.
You know, a lot of people come on this show and they try and be the person
and, of course, you couldn't do that in this situation because he's here.
And I think what you did with it was really special, so well done.
Thank you very much.
I want to add to what she said.
When someone gets up there and sings a song
and the singer has their back turned
and you have the freaking audacity to sing their song,
that's brave.
Because you're risking them not turning around
and them telling you what you did wrong.
One.
Two, to have the guts to twist it up a bit
and then they not turn around and then say,
hey, you ruined my song.
That's what I thought was going to happen.
Right?
Then three, it's like, hey, you've been singing this song for years.
Check this out.
I saw his face.
First he was like, oh, that's cute.
Then he was like, whoa, wait a second.
Then he was like, boom.
And then you hit that freaking high falsetto
and then everybody else turned around.
He was like, yeah.
Point is, you went over the barricade,
under the barricade, around the barricade
and through the barricade all at the same time.
Thank you.
Who are you going to choose?
I honestly genuinely did not think anyone would turn.
I'm going to go for it, George.
My heart's beating.
That was so beautiful.
I look forward to hearing you again.
That was a beautiful performance.
If you don't care for it.
Care for forgiveness.
Is the day.
Have you come here to play Jesus?
To the letters in your head.
Well, if you give me.
We're not the same.
Before you make a decision,
let's find out what your other coaches thought.
Hello, Mike.
What do you think?
I feel like you are both fantastic singers
and I feel like Melissa definitely had
a definite understanding of the words she was saying.
I believed her because you were saying the words
and I was like, she knows the words,
what she's singing.
She's feeling it.
I feel like Vangelis, you did a bit less of that
and you're focusing more on your singing.
I feel like you could learn from that from her.
You know, I disagree totally with what Plymouth said.
I think for me, you know, Vangelis,
you're so good at what you do.
It was just you do it with ease
because it's kind of what you do.
You know, you're a naturally beautiful singer
and you have this great tone in your voice.
And of course, when you did your audition,
you sang one of my songs and you sang it beautifully.
Yeah.
And one of the things I asked Melissa to do
was kind of bring out her inner Janis Joplin
and I think she really did, you know.
She listened to me and it was great
and she expressed the song brilliantly.
So based on this performance,
I have to go with my kind of emotions and my emotions
and say I'm going to take Vangelis through.
Vangelis, congratulations.
You are through to the knockouts.
Congratulations.
Thank you, George.
Well done.
Thank you very much.
Bless her heart.
So, Melissa, this may not be the end just yet
as your future now lies with Will.
OK, Melissa, you're now available for a steal.
OK, Will, you've only got a short amount of time
left to steal Melissa.
Melissa, you haven't been stolen,
but to be here and achieve what you've achieved
is remarkable.
You must be so happy with yourself tonight.
I'm going out on a high.
Like, I've had the best time ever.
I'm so grateful for Boy George for turning around
in the first place.
Thank you so much.
I've had the best time, so thanks very much for having me.
Congratulations.
Let's hear it one more time for Melissa.
Thank you.
Absolutely.
I hope I see you again, yeah?
Keep in touch, yeah?
Thank you.
Maybe I'm quite as good as I should have
Maybe I didn't love you quite as often as I could have
Little things I should have said and done
I just never took the time
You were always on my mind
Tell, tell me that your sweet love hasn't died
Give, give me one more chance to keep you satisfied
You were always on my mind
Here comes the rain again
Falling on my head like a memory
Falling on my head like an illusion
Is it raining?
So baby talk to me
Always do me like lovers do
Here comes the rain again
Raining in my head like a tragedy
Tearing me apart like an illusion
Oh, no, no, no
I want to breathe in the open wind
I want to kiss like lovers do
I want to dive into your ocean
Is it raining?
So baby talk to me
Every day is so wonderful
And suddenly it's hard to breathe
Now and then I get insecure
From all the pain I'm so sure
I am beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring me down
I am beautiful in every single way
Words can't bring me down
So don't you bring me down today
To our hands you're delirious
You're so consumed in all your pain
You try to hide to feel the emptiness
The peace is gone
And the puzzle of it is that the way you move
You are beautiful no matter what they say
Words can't bring you down
So don't you bring me down today
Not today
