The Center Square YT: WA Judge Allows Vote to Replace Elected Sheriff With Appointed Position

A judge in Thurston County Superior Court has ruled that a proposal to change the Pierce County Sheriff from an elected to an appointed position will remain on the November ballot. Despite challenges from a group of plaintiffs, the court decided that voters should ultimately determine the structure of the office and the tenure of Sheriff Steve Swank.
