Labor Day weekend is here and people hitting the road for the last unofficial
weekend of summer are seeing higher costs on everything from hotels to
holiday airfare. And as reporter C. B. Cotton shows us, millions are going all
out before the calendar turns to fall.
Americans are hitting the road this Labor Day weekend, even as prices at the
pump hit a record high for this time of year. Super frustrating because it
According to gas buddy, the national average is expected to reach $4.03 on
Labor Day, topping the previous record set back in 2012 because gas has been
so expensive. We have been staying home more. Um, and we haven't been. We
haven't felt as comfortable to travel as much as before. Still, that's not
stopping some travelers from squeezing in one last summer getaway. Triple A
says the worst traffic will hit Saturday and Monday with Seattle,
Orlando and Boston among the top domestic destinations. He say, Hey,
look, it's gonna what? Most cars have a 15 gallon tank. It's gonna be $15 more
this year to fill up than it was last year. Again, people are gonna be grumpy
about it, but they're still gonna do it. It's only $15. What they might do is
scale back in other ways. And for those flying airfare to popular spots is up
roughly 20% and they might not see relief with hotel prices either with
domestic bookings up 9%. Some frustrated travelers are pointing to
the war in Iran as part of the problem. It's kind of a pointless war. Um, you
know, that's just making everything more expensive for us. A bit of good
news, though. Triple A says prices for cruises leaving from the U. S. Are down
4% this year. Travelers say they see it as an easy, convenient way to vacation
in New York. CB Cotton Fox News.
