This is Day 1 Challenge of 20 day learning OGG Microservices challenge.
In the session 1 of our Oracle Goldengate Microservices training, We discussed about below:
1. Below are the types of Architecture available in Goldengate:
a. Oracle Goldengate Classic Architecture- Command Prompt based (GGSCI)- Oracle as well as non Oracle DB
b.Oracle Goldengate Microservcies – Integrated with Cloud and GUI based architecture- Oracle Databases
2. Then we discused briefly about Classic Architecture about Oracle Goldengate and how process data flow.
3. We then got introduce to oracle Goldengate Microservices Architecture.
4. MSA architecture is available from 2017 and is a REST API based architecture of Goldengate
5. Components of Microservices Architecture include:
a.Service Manager
b.Administrator Server
c.Distribution Server
d.Receiver Server
e.Performance Metrics Server
6. Data Pump process of Classic Arch has been replaced with Distribution Server in MSA.
7. Collector process of Classic Arch has been replaced with Receiver Server in MSA.
8. Download of MSA binaries can be done thru OTN.
9. We have a source DB and a target DB. One service manager will be running on each database. Service manager is a watchdog for all the services. Admin server, Matric server and distribution server will be running on source while admin server, matric server and receiver server will be running on target.
10. Under admin server we have extract process which is writing the data to trail files and distribution server sends the data over TCP/IP to receiver server and receiver server writes it to the trail files. Replicat process reads the data from trail files and writes it to the target database.
