When most people visit Scotland, they head straight to the Scottish Highlands and the famous west coast. But along the North Sea coastline of Scotland, there’s another side of the country that many travellers completely miss. In this video, I spend 48 hours exploring Scotland’s east coast, travelling through Angus, discovering wild beaches, dramatic cliffs, fishing villages and the place where Scotland’s national story began.
From a sunrise at St Cyrus Beach and the wildlife-rich Montrose Basin Nature Reserve, to Lunan Bay, the historic fishing village of Auchmithie, and the spectacular Arbroath Cliffs along the Angus Coastal Path, this road trip reveals some of the most beautiful and underrated places in Scotland travel.
Along the way, I learn about the legendary Arbroath Smokies, a famous Scottish seafood speciality, explore the history of the famous Bell Rock Lighthouse, and stop at Arbikie Distillery, known for its sustainable Scottish whisky production and I try their delicious rye whisky.
