We gave an old tree stump in our garden a new purpose by building a chicken coop around it. After five years with our old coop, we redesigned everything to better connect the chickens with our backyard garden. We reused parts of the original coop, built a new base structure, added a long chicken run and garden tunnel, and created simple gravity-fed systems for food and water.

From building the coop and DIY rodent-resistant feeder to welcoming our new flock into their finished home, this project has become a fun new part of our little garden ecosystem.
