'We're excited about it' - 49ers quarterback Purdy looking forward to making NFL history at Melbourne Cricket Ground

Yeah, we're excited about it. Obviously, I feel like in college, we've played in bigger stadiums and stuff, like pushing anywhere from 90 to 100 occasionally. But in the NFL, to be able to play in front of 100, it's gonna be the first time for a lot of us for an NFL game. So really, really excited about that. We know that, and we're hearing that a lot of the Australians here, passionate about sports and everything. So for us to be able to come out and play the first NFL game out here in front of them is gonna be really special. So hopefully, they all get really hyped and love the game, and we can put on a good show for them. Yeah, it's been awesome. Obviously, George is very electric with his personality and all that, what he brings to the team. But just seeing him back out in the field running around and how explosive he is as a tight end, it's like, all right. It feels really good to have him back. He's a Hall of Fame caliber player, and he's gonna make plays anytime he's out there, so for me as a quarterback to have him back out there feels really good. But no, I was just fascinated to see how 36 people on this big old field, and everybody just moving in harmony, and how physical they were, how skilled it was, and then how into the game the crowd was. And it was a really dope atmosphere. I wouldn't be the one to say he'd be slower or any different than the last time we seen him, so that's what I would expect. I mean, I'm older than he is, so it ain't like I expect him to come back old and slow or something. No, I think he walked away from the game on his own terms, and it's like he's coming back on his own terms. And I expect him to be the same 99 that the league grew to fear. Just being back with the guys and doing that in Australia. I mean, as a kid, you kinda, for me at least, I've kinda always wanted what's Australia like, you know what I mean? So to be back with the guys and be somewhere where it's kinda like somewhere you'd never expect yourself to be. It's just kinda that God just puts you in these positions that you've never been in, but you just trust him, and he puts you exactly where you need to be. And I'm just thankful to be out here with the guys that I'm with. I try not to think about it too much, because I'm gonna get my heart, get the beat and stuff like that. I might go hit somebody in practice, but I just kinda wait a little bit until they kinda really reflect on that, but there's been times, the closer and closer it gets, the more and more it's just like, you just feel it.
