Each year I challenge myself to decorate a different way.
My goal is to not to spend a lot of money and also I don't want to store a lot of items.
And I mix some fake plants with some real ones.
So the orange one is the fake one which is around $4.
And the greenery is from my garden and it is the flower of the oregano.
I have some string lights and that's a new addition.
It was $2.49 at grocery outlets and these little string lights are amazing.
It has endless possibilities.
I love having white walls for practical reason too because we have so many cloudy days but
also I get bored of the colors really fast.
I want to change them around.
And the way I can go around that is to use curtain with colors so you can add a different
feel to a room without painting the walls.
I don't want to use any fragrances in our home for health reasons but there are very
many other ways where you can make your home smell amazing.
And this will turn into a delicious drink after it's done but also it just goes everywhere
in the house and this is truly a fall scent.
All the apples, oranges and I'm going to add some star anise and some cinnamon sticks and
goji berries, a slice of lemon, adding some maple sugar and a little bit of water just
get the ball rolling and I'm going to simmer it on low temperature.
These hops are from my friend's garden and I want to plant some in my own garden for
next year.
The first time when I heard about this plant I was like no I don't want to make beer but
I realized it is very nice to decorate with.
It dries really fast and holds up really good and it has a gorgeous color.
I have a rug in the living room that has the same scallop edges and I needed one that is
where the sink is because I'm like a little pig when I'm washing the dishes and I always
sprinkle water everywhere.
I'm slowly getting into the spirit of the fall but I'm just not going to use the pumpkins
yet.
However I love orange color so this is a perfect time to bring more of that into our home.
I painted this matchbox last year and I love how it looks.
It is very simple to make it.
I just used some gold paint over it and I collected all the stickers that I really love
and some glitter as well.
As we constantly burning candles on the fall and in the winter this is a perfect way to
store the matchbox because I used to hide it here and there then I never was able to
find it but it's just not really looking great on the table but now I can put it anywhere
because it just elevates the room and it just has this beautiful magic feel to it because
it is a gold color so it's super warm.
It really suits the fall theme and also it represents the summer too a little bit.
So one side it's kind of like the early fall.
It has the sunflower on it and the other side it is fall but also I think it can apply to
Christmas season as well so all the way through as the weather it's cloudy and cold and we
want to burn a candle this is a nice way to store the matchbox nearby.
I love soups so much sometimes I have them as a breakfast and after dinner maybe I have
a bowl of soup again.
It's just a comfort food as fall is arriving or at least where we are now we have rain
and definitely the temperatures have dropped.
I really enjoy soups.
I think these are dried oats and I found them at the ditch as we were walking so I picked
a few of these.
For my next DIY home decor I'm gonna need something from the garden and we also have
some meat up on the smoker so I'm going to check when I make sure everything is doing
well with that.
We were so hesitant to buy that because we thought it just includes so much work but
it's actually so much better than the barbecue because you don't have to stand there you
just put it up walk away you come back in depends on what kind of meat you have but
it takes a couple of hours you come back and it's done so we've been loving this and the
green beans I didn't know these were the running ones I only bought these to balance
out the soil in the ground for the tomatoes and the tomatoes green beans and basil they
just went bananas this year but the main reason I came to the garden I just got distracted
these little marigolds I'm going to harvest a bunch of those.
I'm going to need a few additional things for this DIY so I'm going to grab those as
well putting the flowers into water and it's about time to taste that apple pear spices
it has something something mixture and the whole entire house smells amazing it's incredible
it's so it's like a warm hug and the taste it's very velvety it's not like the tea it
has a texture and it's it's very delicious I am going to use a needle and I'm just going
to thread these marigolds which by the way I think it's it contributed to a better outcome
in my garden so I'm definitely going to plant these every year but as of right now I'm gonna
get to use these as a home decor for fall it is truly representing the season that we
are in I think the orange color it's so welcoming in a home it just radiates some warmth it's like
a little rays of sunshine they are going to shrink and darken and I'm just going to hang
it here to dry it the soup is gone from my stomach so I need to have some snack and I
love mixing sardines with some mayo and I'm adding some dill well preferably fresh one but
I don't have any so I'm just going to use the dried one and I'm adding a little bit of a
mustard and it is specifically extra delicious with some tortilla chips
I also collected some oak leaves I collect them each year because every year when I'm ironing
them out so this is one way to preserve them they fade the color and that to the point where I love
that color so much but at the same time I want to add some darker ones so now I'm going to have
a mix of lighter and darker colors I'm using it on the lowest setting it's basically just warm not
hot I put the leaves in between two papers I have some straw flowers from my garden I'm making a
garland out of these two I don't know if you guys have heard about the issues with the avocado oil
chips and just avocado oil in general that they didn't use hundred percent avocado oil so who
knows what we eating and on that note I started to experiment with some homemade chips and I'm
using a mandala just make sure I'm getting a nice and thin slices I'm using ghee to fry them and I
just put salt afterwards once they fried it takes a while to fry them so I do a little bit of a
tidy up here and there but I keeping my eyes on the chips because they burn very quickly I'm still
frying the chips but I can't help it I have to try this we have this little edge and I thought maybe
I can decorate that but it's a little bit tricky I have some white washi tape and I think that will
fix it and it stays there I'm going to stick some oregano flowers in between and it's it looks like
a garland so I really like that although it's a little bit thin so I think I'm going to have
another solution later on to fix that if it's fall I like to put out games on the table and just leave
them there so it's encouraging us to play more together well I have to admit my boys are not much
into it anymore but sometimes we can lure them in but Zsolt and I we still do enjoy some game nights
Zsolt pointed out that he would have an easier time to remember if that would be auto parts and
cars which I can't understand that because I would have a hard time to remember those but I really do
love the patterns of this game gathering some ideas for some fall drinks and I love Siena's
magazine all the amazing tea mixes but on top of that she comes up with ideas how to use those
teas so I love her magazine so much for that and a little bit of a knitting while I'm resting my
feet the marigolds are still drying but it's definitely I can tell it is a little bit darker
in color which I love lunch and dinner is dictated by what I have from the garden and I do have lots
of tomatoes the peppers were on sale and it has this gorgeous deep orange color so I thought it
fits the occasion first I'm going to drop all the tomatoes into a hot water and blanch them just I
can remove the skin easier and catching up with one day so many bags of tomatoes into the freezer
after I blanch them so this is how I preserved mainly the tomatoes and probably I'm going to
put some into the freeze dryer as well this dish or recipe I'm making now it can be a base for so
many other recipes equal amount of pepper and tomatoes and lots of onions and I just cook them
together and that can be a base for meat and sometimes I just put some eggs over it sometimes
I serve them with rice while the tomatoes are chilling I am going to flood a couple of laundry
and once the tomatoes are colder I can peel off the skin if I'm ever looking for something that
it's random definitely a boy's room I can have some success I'm planning on to cut up a bunch
of onions and I was looking for a goggle in their room but I only find this one which is fine that
the dust is dancing slowly across the wooden floor anti and holy is knocking at my door
that's a little bit tedious work and you don't have to
follow that you don't have to remove the skin but we prefer it without
once the onions are glassy that's when I'm adding the tomato and cook them together until they are
soft once the tomatoes are all cooked I'm going to add the peppers and cook them until
halfway done I would say it's a little bit crunchy so it's still gonna have some texture
as I'm going to add two other recipes it is really hard to find some organic pork meat
at the store but they had a few slices and I'm just going to grind it
adding salt pepper and garlic
I'm going to put the full head of cabbage into a hot water and I have some sauerkraut I'm going
to layer that into the bottom of the pot and as the cabbage softens I'm peeling off the leaves
one by one and I'm going to add ground pork into that and roll them up
what I love about fall in the kitchen that I actually enjoy the heat and it is really neat
to make all those comfort food that we love and our fall it's kind of strange in a way of
we definitely getting a warmer temperature during September but not this one this September it's
quite cold it feels like fall is in a full swing we might going to get back some nice sunshine and
warmer temperatures but as of right now as far as I can see it's rain and colder temperatures
as for the the cabbage rolls so I added some cooked rice to the meat I like to have a half
and half ratio and the rice is cooked but not fully about halfway so it can absorb all the
the juice from the meat and from the cabbage so it makes it even more tasty
we call this dish in Hungary lecso and it is a nice mixture with even with rice as simple as
it can be but sometimes we put some eggs over it you can put it over some meat as well it's
just delicious and I only had to pay for the peppers which was on sale but all the tomatoes
and onions are from my garden the leaves are started to curl up a little bit so I'm going
to iron them a little bit and I don't have to do this more than two or three times it
really depends on the leaves as well but as for the oak I found that that the max I have to iron
maybe three times but it goes really fast a lot faster than you would think and you would get
this beautiful decoration for fall and which actually I leave them out the whole entire year
but for fall there's definitely a time to stack up on those leaves and the cabbage roll is not
done I'm going to put it back a little bit and it's nice to use my oven again so I love this
in the fall season that it's more effortless to create those cozy recipes where you just
toss something in the oven if you can eat dairy I would highly suggest to put some sour cream on
the top but I can't so I'm just going to use some cashew creamer which is not the same but it's
still really good looking at the color I forgot to put the paprika in there but oh well it still
tastes delicious there's a new way to preserve leaves and it has to be fresh and I never tried
this before so we will see together we will find out in the next video how it will go so one part
vegetable glycerin and two parts water preferably warm so the leaves can absorb it better and then
you have to cut off the little stems and you can just put that into the water make sure they're
flat and they're all covered with this glycerin water mixture and you have to leave it there
three to six days and I don't know what they meant by that like what am I supposed to see
on the third day or on the sixth day so we will see but I'm excited to find out what will be the
texture afterwards it's kind of oily now so we'll see but I'm excited to try new things
doing some of the touch-ups on the oak leaves and I have some fresh ones that I just collected for
the glycerin project and the leftover I'm just going to iron them that's my old method
