Why I Cancelled My Claude Code Subscription

Full disclosure: I work for Venice, so weigh my opinion accordingly. I am a genuine advocate of the product and I do believe it is a unique solution to most (if not all) the problems introduced in this video, and so that's why I introduce it.
I was a $200/month Claude Max power user running hundreds of millions of tokens a day on peak days... and that is exactly why I cancelled Claude Code.
Two days of my Claude Code usage would have cost about $1,800 at public API rates (against a $200 subscription). That math doesn't work, so I dug into why — then built an exit: open-weight models, a model-agnostic harness (OpenCode), smart model routing, and a paid Venice Max plan.
I'm now using Venice Max plan with OpenCode instead:

What you get in this video:
• The real token economics behind the $200 plan (tokens are the units AI models bill you in — and someone has to pay for them)
• Why subsidized inference is a hook, not a bargain (and how it turns into lock-in)
• How to route different models for different jobs: one plans, a cheaper one implements, a near-free one handles the manual stuff
• How workspace structure (AGENTS.md, skills, subagent profiles) cuts both tokens and cost
• Why privacy is a real line here — proprietary agents profile your creative process — and what zero data retention actually means for you
