AI GeneratedThe driver reflects on a competitive but points-less performance at Monza, noting the track's unique high-speed nature. The focus now shifts to the debut of the Madrid circuit, which the driver describes as a fast, intense, and challenging venue with a complex layout that required significant simulator preparation.
You mentioned after Monza that it wasn't a bad day, given that it didn't really suit your car.
What are the main positives and learnings that you feel you can take forward from that weekend?
Monza is obviously quite a unique track, true high-speed circuit, quite different to most other ones we get to.
Only Baku we have that one massive straight, which is maybe slightly similar on that straight, but the rest is quite different again.
It was interesting, I think we were still relatively competitive, especially in the race on Sunday our pace was good.
But obviously we were a bit troubled on lap one and on the start, which were a bit costly.
But otherwise I think we were competitive in the midfield again, but obviously missed the points ever so slightly.
Obviously a brand new challenge for everybody this weekend.
How are you finding being in Madrid so far and what are your expectations for driving this circuit?
So far so good, I guess we'll learn more in about 24 hours time when we hit the track.
From the simulator it's very fast, it's flowing, it's definitely intense.
A lot of blind corners and exits, seems like a challenging circuit.
But yeah, we'll obviously find out in real life tomorrow and learn how things are, grip level, tyres, etc.
So yeah, getting ready for an exciting busy weekend.
What are your first impressions here? I mean, completely new track, new paddock, it's quite big.
There's a pedal court as well here.
Yeah, it's certainly very different, unique, big, like you say.
But I haven't seen much of it yet to be honest.
I'm going to go around this afternoon the track, which is obviously the most interesting and most important part for a driver.
But yeah, it's big distances, I think we're all going to get our kilometres in and our steps this weekend.
Yeah, a new venue is always exciting, lots to learn, to see, to explore.
So yeah, let's see what happens.
You already mentioned a bit about what you think of the track.
I bet you did a lot of laps already on the simulator to prepare.
What was the most outstanding thing for you or the most difficult part?
It's just quite a long lap, a lot of corners, a lot of change of directions at quite high speeds.
I think it just took a good amount of laps to get into it, the rhythm, really know, understand what's coming,
kind of the dynamic from one corner to another.
So yeah, I think I would say it was one of the more difficult tracks to learn in the simulator.
Now I know where to turn left and right, I hope at least, we'll find out tomorrow and the rest we'll see.
