This report commemorates the one-year anniversary of Charlie Kirk's assassination on a college campus. It highlights his legacy as a champion of conservative values and the continued growth of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) under the leadership of his widow, Erica Kirk, who now serves as CEO and board chair to ensure his mission of faith and freedom persists.
One year ago today, Charlie Kirk was assassinated on a college campus while doing what he did best,
challenging young Americans to debate him. Now, a year later, his widow Erica is carrying on his
work and the conservative youth movement he built. NTD's Jack Bradley brings us a
look at Charlie's legacy and how his movement is bigger now than ever.
This is why I go to college campuses. One year ago, Charlie Kirk was doing what he did best,
inviting college students to challenge him, arguing that America's future belonged to
a generation willing to speak up. If you guys disagree, come on to the front.
At Utah Valley University, that mission was cut short in a violent targeted attack.
Kirk was shot and killed on September 10, 2025 at just 31 years old. His wife Erica
suddenly became a widow and a mother raising two young children without their father.
But she also stepped into the organization Charlie spent more than a decade building.
Today, Erica Kirk serves as Turning Point USA's CEO and board chair,
and she's made clear Charlie's work is not over.
If you thought that my husband's mission was powerful before, you have no idea.
President Trump posthumously awarding Charlie the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Erica accepted it at the White House.
He was assassinated in the prime of his life for boldly speaking the truth,
for living his faith and relentlessly fighting for a better and stronger America. He loved this
country. In the days following Charlie's death, more than 120,000 students reportedly reached out
about starting new Turning Point chapters. And TPUSA says they've since expanded to more than
with more than 1 million student members. The organization Charlie founded at just 18 years
old has become a massive conservative youth movement. The only thing that is preventing
us from this country from going to civil war is debate and dialogue. That willingness to
debate anyone became one of Kirk's trademarks. He built a following by challenging students
to debate him, often on issues that had become increasingly difficult to discuss on college
campuses. What is a woman? It's a very simple question. Just 11 days after his assassination,
tens of thousands gathered in Arizona for a massive memorial service.
President Trump called Kirk's voice one that would echo through generations.
And his name will live forever in the eternal chronicle of America's greatest patriots.
He will live forever. And Erica made a promise of her own.
Charlie died with incomplete work, but not with unfinished business.
Now, one year later, Turning Point is carrying on Charlie Kirk's legacy,
changing hearts and minds toward the ideals of freedom, family, and faith.
I want to be remembered for courage, for my faith. That would be the most important thing.
Most important thing is my faith in my life. For NTD News, I'm Jack Bradley.
