Small Family Apartment with Flexible Furniture and Design, Barcelona 58sqm/624sqft

In Barcelona, architect Vincent Parasie of atelier Parasie and Sara Suárez Mayor of Pabellón 33 transformed a fragmented apartment into a warm and practical family home, reorganising the layout to create a more open living and kitchen area, improving the flow between spaces and make better use of the compact footprint. The children currently share a generous bedroom with plenty of room to play, designed so it can be divided into two separate rooms as they grow, while multifunctional furniture helps each space work harder, from an extendable dining table to a movable coffee table. Custom birch joinery provides storage throughout, while a continuous terrazzo floor and carefully considered materials bring character and a sense of openness to the flexible family home designed to grow with family.
