This film is just beautiful and lovely and warm.
Yes, we hope.
A warm blanket.
Yeah?
A cosy blanket.
I believe in energy in life.
And perhaps that's magic.
Do you believe in magic?
Yeah, I mean, magic, I think I believe in
if you put good in the world, then it will come back to you.
I think just always, as I've said,
trying to choose love and choose to see the good in people.
And hopefully that's what this film does.
And I make a whole array of things.
Someone said to me recently, they're like,
if you look at Caitlyn and Lioness
and then Gillian Practical Magic, it's like polar opposites.
But as an actor, how fantastic.
I'm like, yeah, that's actually really great
to have both sides of the spectrum.
So this is my warm offering to the world.
Lioness is my hardcore.
And you do what you cover all the bases.
You put your skin in the game in this.
You are producing this as well.
Yeah.
Yes, you say the fans have made this happen, and they have.
They demanded and they wanted it.
But you and Sandra were like, we're going to make this happen.
Well, we had our budget cut just before we were about to start
because it's really tough to make films right now.
And we just went, OK, well, we can make the cuts.
And that's when the producing came in.
We went, how do we still make the film
for the budget that they're giving us
and hopefully deliver something that people love?
And we just head down, ass up, as they say.
And we got to work.
And that's kind of also the kernel of this film is sisterhood
and using all your power together
to get to the place you want to get to.
And dedicated to you.
My own sister and Sandy's sister,
and then Denise Denovi, who's our other producer, her sister.
And it was actually Denise's idea.
And we were like, yes, but Ant's not here tonight to see it.
So I'm like, she's in Ireland
because she's at a conference for lawyers there.
So anyway, we're worker bees in our family.
I got this feeling about, from what I know about you,
is family is everything.
That core of love and family is everything.
Your daughters are everything.
And Sunny's working right now.
So she wishes she could have been here.
But Faithy got on the plane with me and she's like, I'm coming.
That relationship.
You're not doing this alone.
That relationship is really beautiful in the film.
And I felt that you gave that as an aunt.
But that relationship is so core and so beautiful.
And I felt that through you with your daughters.
There's women that, motherhood comes in all forms.
And how you get it and where it comes from.
And as Jilly says, they're your daughters, but they're my nieces.
And I'm showing up for them too.
And you don't get to take them from me.
Because at the beginning, Jilly's like,
please tell them the truth about themselves.
But you have to respect a mother and the choices that a mother makes.
And so she's like, OK.
But at some point, this is all going to come out
and we're going to deal with it together.
And that's what Jilly always says to Sal.
She goes, you're not alone.
And as a mum yourself, you've got to make tough decisions.
But you're also a mate, which is a beautiful relationship to have.
You're a mother.
No, no, you're a mother.
But you're also a guide, a mentor, a safe haven.
The place you can always come home to.
But ultimately, as I always say to my kids,
no, I'm not here to be your best friend.
I'm here to actually be the person that is your rock.
I feel like there's more in this world.
We're not going to be waiting three decades now.
Who knows?
We've got so many more stories
because the book that Alice Hoffman wrote was so dense and rich.
The sequel to Practical Magic.
And we kind of had to pull storylines.
So if it all works, we'd be able to pass it on, as we say,
to the baby witches, Joey and Maisie, and let them shine.
But we'd also love to have our place as the aunts
and see where that takes.
And as Sandy said at some point, Jilly may find love.
Who knows?
But right now, we just need this to have a little magic and connect.
Just finally, why did you come home here to Australia
when you've been all over the world?
Because it's my home.
I wanted to bring this film home.
And I said to Warner Brothers,
can I at least go to Sydney with the film?
And they were like, absolutely.
And they sort of paved the way.
And so I got on a plane after we did the LA premiere
and we worked the next day, we did press.
And then I was like, okay, get on that flight, 11.30pm.
Get off the plane, 7.30am.
And here I am.
