The Ship catch might not happen on Flight 14 after all.
Why would SpaceX delay such a critical milestone?
What could have changed?
And if the catch is pushed back, when could we finally see it happen?
Today, we're diving into the latest developments surrounding Flight 14—and uncovering what they could mean for the future of Starship.

Flight 14 has arguably become the hottest keyword in the aerospace industry.
Reaching orbit and catching the Ship.
Those two milestones made it one of the most important Starship flights ever.
And there was good reason for those expectations.
The Ship from Flight 13 achieved an unexpected success: it survived its mission and is now being towed back home.
Most importantly, Elon Musk emphasized the possibility of catching the Ship in both a post-flight tweet and a company audio webcast earlier this month.
After 13 flights, expectations for a major breakthrough were higher than ever.

But sadly, we may have to put one of those expectations on hold.
Specifically, Elon Musk tweeted: “Looks like we will probably catch the ship with the tower in a few months.”
The key words here are “a few months.”
That strongly suggests the Ship catch won't happen on Flight 14.
Based on current estimates, Flight 14 could take place in early September, meaning there may only be two or three weeks remaining.
If SpaceX were still planning to catch the Ship on Flight 14, we might expect Musk to say “in a few weeks.”
Instead, “a few months” points toward October or later.
So why has this attempt apparently been postponed?
Looking at Flight 13, SpaceX seemed well prepared for it.
Flights 12 and 13 both demonstrated successful Ship landings in the ocean, satisfying the conditions Musk had previously discussed.
In the same post, Musk also said: “If there had been a tower out to sea where we practiced landing the ship, it would have been caught.”
That statement shows just how confident Musk and SpaceX are in the Ship's navigation and control.
And if we look at Flight 13, the vehicle did appear to achieve the kind of precision that could potentially have allowed a Mechazilla-style system to catch it if the tower had been positioned offshore.
So, in principle, SpaceX may already have the capability.
