Video Summary
AI GeneratedA football player, Cole, discusses his role as a running back, the supportive culture within his position group, and his transition to a new team and scheme. He highlights the team's depth, the quality of the offensive line, and his excitement regarding the stadium atmosphere and upcoming rivalry games.
Employ later in the games and you come in and pop one off right away.
Yeah, I think it's been kind of cool to embrace my role.
I definitely feel like by the time I'm kind of going in, you know,
or whenever I get my opportunity, I feel like the defense kind of slowed down a little bit.
They're a little beat down and, you know, that's the other guys working the ball hard and
making big plays and, you know, wearing them down.
So when I got this opportunity, I feel like I'm seeing the game a lot slower.
So yeah, it's been pretty cool.
How happy have you been for Jabron to come in?
I mean, obviously last year he's playing behind two first round picks and
coming back home and making the most of it these first couple of weeks.
Yeah, I mean, I'm ecstatic for him.
I think we all, I think we have the most like supportive running back room in the country.
Like we are all ecstatic every time someone makes a big play,
every touch for Schrammett on the field, every touchdown we're celebrating the first ones,
you know, dapping them up.
That's kind of a philosophy of our running back room.
We just keep like the competitiveness, but like good competitiveness.
So, you know, we're kind of driving each other up and, you know,
it's been awesome to see Jabron go from back to back under our game and just shine
and really get that moment in this, you know, hometown.
You get along, but does that spur you on when one guy scores and another out?
Because all four of you guys scored tonight.
Did that get to be a competition?
It's like, okay, now my turn.
No, I mean, I don't think as much of it was a competition.
I think it was honestly just a cool moment.
It was kind of a thrill for all of us.
And we all kind of talked about it before the game.
We talked about it kind of even last week.
Like that was, you know, our mentality going into the game.
And that's going to stay the same throughout the rest of the year, I think.
It was kind of just like, I feel like other schools don't have four guys
that can go in and play every down.
And, you know, all four of us going in was super special.
Cole, could you walk me through that touchdown run for you?
Obviously, first carry of the game, you slipped the tackle.
Could you walk me through that play?
Yeah. Obviously, we had an outside foul.
I mean, I'm playing behind the best line in the country,
so they kind of make it easy on me.
And then our receivers are mauling their DBs on the outside.
They did that last week.
Like, you know, they did it this weekend and continue to do all season.
So they kind of made it easy on me.
Just kind of bounced to the outside from there.
I was kind of pretty much just running straight, had to weave a little bit.
But, you know, the guys around me made it easy on me.
It's a pretty different scheme than what you were playing in at Stanford last year.
What's been the biggest adjustment for you so far?
I think the biggest adjustment for me is, you know, I ran a lot more duo.
And I'd say more draft scheme at Stanford.
But obviously here it's, you know, a lot more zone.
There's, you know, a good amount of gap scheme.
But it's mostly zone schemes here.
And so, honestly, it's my patience, to be more patient in the backfield.
And that's all the guys, you know, we kind of pick up off each other's games
and to help all of us get better.
So that's one thing that I think I've kind of helped take from some of the other guys,
is being a little bit more patient in the backfield.
TQL Stadium next week, a grass field, a different environment, a rivalry game.
How exciting is that for you guys as a running back room?
Have you guys been talking about discussing that
and kind of building out to that this offseason and these first few weeks?
Yeah, I'd say we haven't really been talking about it.
It's kind of just our mentality is go one and out.
So we kind of focus on the opponent at hand.
But obviously next week's a huge opportunity and it's a rivalry game.
A lot of us are transfers.
So we are slowly getting acclimated to how important this is to the community.
And obviously we're willing to do anything to get that win.
That's a running back room. We're going to go before them.
There's not that much about that.
What's been your impression of Lippert Stadium during the first two games here?
It's been awesome. I mean, it's loud.
The fans are crazy. The student section's nuts.
Running out like last week was surreal.
And getting to run out and nip at night tonight was such a cool experience.
Truly was an awesome.
Is it not the hype?
Yeah, for sure. I mean, surpassed it.
I mean, it's the best stadium I've ever been in. It's awesome.
I don't know, Wynton, the last time you ran on a grass field,
do you like grass turf? Does it make any difference?
No, I mean, no real preference.
It's kind of just regardless.
You got to get between the white lines and, you know, 11-on-11 football.
So whatever that takes, no real preference on grass or turf.
Cool. Thanks, Cole.
Thanks, Cole. Appreciate you.
Last up will be J.D. Gibson.
