Ladies, I am so beyond excited to see both of you and talk to you about this.
Oh good, we hope.
Honestly, I watched the original again last night with my little girl as well.
How old's your daughter?
She's eight. She was a bit scared in some bits, but she-
This is her first time?
And I watched it again and I revisited. I was like, this is so beautiful. I mean,
revisiting it, what an incredible gift.
Are you still both so happy that you got to go back and visit this again?
Yeah.
Yes!
And rebuild the house.
And create a larger garden than we had before.
And to bring in a new generation to be with Stockard and Diane and see
their beautiful eyes and hear their voices.
It's a rare thing that we got to do.
Unbelievably rare.
And to have them there, then us, and then the new generation of witches.
So it's exciting.
Now we're just excited to bring it to everybody.
And nervous.
I was given a screening and grown journalists replied.
That doesn't happen often, I have to say. We're very jaded.
Well, I think the reason the first one someone brought up earlier,
why it resonated or became such a snowball effect is because it's very emotional.
And it's very personal. And it's a journey. And it's not big effects.
It's your personal journey. And so many people, we all have one.
And so to honour that in the second one was daunting.
But Alice wrote an incredible book that was very dense.
And we got to pick a small piece of it.
And just, we had to honour what those who became fans and wanted the film,
we had to honour what they needed from the second one. We had to.
You must have spent a lot of the last 28 years answering questions about Disney.
No, never.
Never.
I never did, did you?
Yeah, we did. Yeah.
No, no.
I was asked.
I was never asked.
But also, I was still from the shame of the first one,
when by the time we were done with the junket,
you could tell that they didn't understand it.
And I was like, oh, God, I thought we had made something.
And in the premiere, I was like, oh, it was, yeah.
Because the tone of that movie, the comedy and the drama, and I mean, it's heavy at times.
And then also, it was just an unusual film. And it was all women starring in it.
So at 28 years ago, that was unusual.
Yeah. I said, have you lived the life of a woman?
Because that in a 24 hour period, you have drama, joy, love, maybe a little romance.
Like it's just life.
And now people are willing to go, oh, we want to see all women on screen.
We're excited.
And obviously, we have some great men in this as well.
But primarily, this is about sisterhood.
This is about family.
It's about creating your own magic.
And hopefully, you come out of it feeling good.
It's kind of nice to come out feeling good.
Maybe some tears, but ultimately feeling hopeful.
I'd be like, maybe don't be careful.
Yeah, yeah.
Don't do this, but don't do that.
Over here.
Look, look over here.
But you know what, I'm a person who would never change one thing.
One thing.
Because I get to sit in this body and this is the way I feel now.
And I go, if this is how I feel now, then I would do it all over again.
Yeah, absolutely.
Right there with you.
No repeats.
What's your favorite reaction from people over the years?
They only ask Nicole.
Just Nicole.
She just wasn't listening.
I think the favorite reaction is, oh my gosh, it's one of my favorite movies.
I love seeing it.
It makes me feel so good.
I watch it every year.
I watch it with my friends.
We do viewing parties.
And hopefully this one will, you know, encourage people to go to the cinema and take their friends
and have fun and have an experience.
Oh, far more woo.
Yeah, I'm a bit of science, a bit of woo.
Yeah.
And a bit of woohoo.
T-shirt.
