Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe video captures a Marlins Legends Hall of Fame induction ceremony followed by a dramatic regular-season game between the Marlins and the Dodgers. After an emotional tribute to a franchise legend and a mid-game honor for Miguel Rojas, the Marlins staged a late-inning comeback, overcoming a 3-0 deficit to win 6-4 via a walk-off home run.
Ladies and gentlemen thank you
again for joining us for today's
Marlins Legends Hall of Fame
induction ceremony.
Today we honor Marlins
legend whose talent
energy
and unmistakable style
made him one of the most
exciting players of
our generation from the high leg
kick to the infectious
smile.
He brought a unique personality to
the mound and a competitive
spirit that captured
the attention of South Florida
and the entire baseball world.
And during
the unforgettable summer
and fall of 2003
he helped energize
a team and community.
Every one of these guys up here
I've taken a piece
of their game and applied it to mine.
The leadership of Jeff
Conine, the joy of Luis
Casio, the work after the Juan
Pierre, I mean
the class of Mike Lowell, the
joy of Alex Gonzalez,
the fist pumping of El Pupo over there
and the perseverance
of Evan Jackson. So
thank you guys for all helping me in my game and my
journey so I appreciate that and I'm forever
indebted to you guys. Thank you so much.
This team is so near dear to my heart
I live and die with them still
to this day. I wish if I had
a couple more throws in my arm I would pitch
for them especially in this AC
beautiful dome which I'm jealous
of.
But keep rooting,
keep believing in them
and thank you so much for this awesome jacket.
God bless you all. Take care.
Thank you. So we've got a rubber match
today. Dodgers and the Marlins
after an outstanding come from behind victory
for the fish in game two last
night. Bottom line is that
Yuri Perez needs to be much
better and this afternoon he's bidding
for his eighth win of the season. That's the
2-2 from Yuri is strong on Emmitt.
Boy he threw that right through that bat
of Freddy Freeman. Here's Bich
once he rolls one to second. Edwards
shuffles three times to his right backhands
and goes to first side retired so
Perez 1-2-3
top of the first inning. Nothing across for the
Dodgers. Time for the twenty
second start of the season for
Emmitt Sheehan. Pitch number seven another
2-2 finally puts him down
to the slider.
There's a cut and a miss. Strike
three another slider for a strikeout.
Two batters two strikeouts
for Emmitt Sheehan. During the break
the Marlins at Lone Depot Park
put together a video
montage and a congratulations
for Miguel Rojas
as
said earlier this year he plans to retire after
2026. That was worn
all around Major League Baseball on Friday
to recognize those who tragically
lost their lives on September 11
25 years ago. But you'll notice for
Emmitt Sheehan there are the initials
EF because he has his own personal connection
to what happened on that day.
His uncle Edward Fergus
tragically lost his life. He was working
in the North Tower of the Twin Towers
so he chose to wear this hat
to not only honor his
uncle but to continue to recognize those
who lost their lives on September 11
25 years ago. Miguel Rojas
it's been a very special return to him to Lone Depot
Park where he started his career
and he had stared before we got here that
he knew this was going to be an emotional return
because it is likely the last time he's going
to be playing here.
Rojas
muscles it into center field for the first
hit of the day.
Miguel taking a big lead now
has to step and dive back and he
induced a balk. Perez balked
and Rojas trots over to second
base. Here's his one two.
Swing and a miss.
One hundred miles
per hour on the fastball. Strike three.
Near the back foot
and it hits the back foot. Max
Muncy grounded out to second on the
first pitch he saw back in the first inning.
Another two two.
Strike three call.
Muncy's going to challenge.
Correct.
What an eye.
So the count is full and the runners will be in motion.
The payoff pitch.
That's a strike. Come on.
Inside ball
four but that is challenged by
Joe Mack. That pitch clipped
the corner at one hundred
point two. What a challenge
from Joe Mack who has done that
now twenty three times
this year. Bottom of the third inning
bottom of the Marlins order. Amichian
facing Sanoha. Amichian put
him away. Yes he can
with the change.
Raindrops were
falling right on him.
A raindrop of a curveball
drops in for a strike and that is
strikeout number four
for Amichian. No score.
Will Smith to lead off.
Will fly to center his first time
up for one today.
Hey Smith sends one
into the right center field gap. He's taking two
out of the box. He's going for
two. Marci's throw in
is late and off the mark. It's a leadoff double.
A four pitch walk.
Two on nobody out in the fourth.
You see him in that batter's box.
He is in total control.
Talk to scouts and evaluators
if you cannot control the strike
zone in the minor leagues you got no shot in the
majors. DePaolo
Oh no sometimes
this young man is the future.
He's the middle of the
lineup type hitter. Play coverage
back to ball skills and power
all rolled up in one.
DePaolo knew it was gone so did everybody
in the ballpark and DePaolo celebrated
at home plate. Well welcome
to Big Leagues young man. First
home run. Riby run
scored. A lot of boxes
were just checked. First time through
the order nobody got on base
and now to start the fourth they have
two singles.
On one two Coney.
Strikes out swinging on some high heat
from Sheehan. See that fastball
was a couple ball lengths lower
so it looked enticing to Coney
to be able to get on top of that.
The bases are loaded with two out.
Jacob Marci could do something he's never
done before. Hit a grand slam.
Swung on hit high in the
air to center field playable.
Alex Cole shuffling
over to his right looks up in the ceiling
makes the catch and the side
is retired.
And it's Sheehan who wriggles off the hook there.
I really do this.
I really do this is what he
yelled at the Dodger dugout.
1-0 pitch is belted deep to
the right field again. This ball heading
back toward the wall. It is off the wall.
Bounces away from
Ruiz and into second with a stand
up double is Josue
DiPaola. Goes back to back
splitters. This one was up in the strike
zone. This young man has
really been delightful.
To two. Roller
hit towards third. Sonoha to his left picks up
the grasshopper. Throws to first.
Side retired. So DiPaola a two
out double but Ralston puts up a zero
in the sixth. No runs. One hit.
Josue DiPaola now on the Dodger
bench. Between innings.
Back to the dugout after his
second extra base hit. Dave
Roberts brings him in.
This is why I love Dave Roberts as a manager
and as a human. He is always teaching.
Since Sheehan was recalled
he's now pitched ten innings.
He's got 15 K's.
Now Lopez
swings pops it up to short.
Noki Betts with his feet now
on the outfield. Turf makes the catch.
It's another one two three inning.
Five of the six innings that Emmitt
Sheehan has pitched. He has retired
the Marlins in order.
Alex Vecchia onto the mound for
appearance number 66.
The plus lefty out of the bullpen.
This is having a stellar year.
Three pitches. Three strikes.
And a punch out for Vecchia.
Swing
by Marcy. Pops it up.
Right side of the infield.
Rojas comes in on the infield. Turf
makes the catch. Six times in seven
innings the Marlins have gone down
in order. We go to the eighth. It's the Dodgers
three and the Marlins nothing.
Kyle Tucker 0 for two. Walked in the
fourth and scored a run.
And he slams that out towards
right center. Ruiz is over. Marcy
over. Dives makes the catch.
What a catch by Jacob.
Throw to first. Not in time.
Wow. How did
Jacob Marcin get to that? I did
not think he was going to get there.
I thought Tucker had himself
a double into the gap.
And watch how Jacob
Marcin fills up that gap.
It's went hard through the left side.
Smith cuts
second and heads to third.
Dodgers on the corners. Looking
for Alex Call now.
Two on. Two out. 3-2.
Popped up. Shallow
right. Ruiz coming in. Still
coming. Towards the line. Slows to a jog.
Reaches up. Plucks the ball
out of the air. Side retired.
Ground
ball. Squeezes through. Rojas
and Betts avoid a collision.
And that snaps a streak of eleven consecutive
retired by the Dodgers pitching staff.
And Rojas a little
slow to get up. In between
dive and also thinking that he was going to run
into Mookie. Overextend.
Oh no.
Overextend that
that right arm.
And how many times have you seen that?
And he kind of jabbed into the ground.
So he will stay in.
Marlins thinking not dead yet.
Here comes Stowers. Kyle Stowers
all started 25 home runs
last year. Nineteen this
year. On a one-two. Stowers
strikes out. Swinging
a hundred and two north of the zone.
Otto Lopez has come to the
plate with the bases loaded. The Major League
hit leader coming up. You're in a good position.
Fly drive center field. Base
hit for Otto. It's a three-two
game. Marlins are on the board here in the
eight. Automatic.
There it is. One hundred and
eightieth hit of the year.
And he makes it a big one.
What a battle against a guy
throwing triple digits.
Otto takes him right back up the middle.
Was three-nothing. Now it's three-two.
They give the ball to the big
bad lefty Tanner Scott.
High leg kick. Now the pitch.
Swung on and missed. Strike three.
Three straight sliders.
Three strikes.
And Tanner Scott
puts water on the fire.
Back-to-back games with a stolen base for Freeland.
Mookie Betts. He's going to look to try to drive that fastball.
Mookie lines it down the right
field side. And that ball
is going to be a fair ball. It's in the corner.
Rounding third as Freeland
he'll score. And into second
with a run scoring double is Mookie Betts.
It is four to two.
Just a huge hit.
And how big was that
Freeland stolen base because the ball
bounced over. So instead of
on first and having
to stop at third he gets to second.
He's able to score. Bases loaded
for Kyle Tucker. What's his average
with the bases loaded? 4.05
career. Fastball
Anthony's inside corner called
strike three. The Dodgers down
to their final challenge and they are now
out. That pitch clipped the inside
corner. Tanner Scott
has three saves of at least
four outs this year.
Ground ball to
first. Freeman long
toss and Edwards beat him to the bag.
Nobody out. Here's the pitch.
Bunted down the third baseline.
It's a good one. Bare handed by the catcher
Smith fires the first late.
Edwards goes to second. The
Marlins have two on and nobody out.
Sonoha at the plate.
Nobody's holding on. Edwards
Marcy's way off the bag at first.
A little shot
down the left field line. That's a fair
ball. Edwards will score.
Marcy will get away.
Going to tie the game.
To Harvey. And once
again the little guy comes
up big. Is there
anybody else you would rather
have at the plate
in this situation? With
two strikes gets
just enough of it. Keeps
it fair. And because
it was softly hit allowed
Marcy to come all the way around
from first base and score the tying run.
Tanner Scott back
in his old digs is going to get
knocked out of this game. Look at Harvey
go. The Marlins
have come back to stun
the Dodgers with two in the eighth, two
in the ninth. One more would win it.
The 2-1 pitch. High
fly ball left field.
Call going back.
A two
run walk off home run
for Augustine Ramirez.
Fish win
six to four.
And they tank
the series with the Dodgers.
An epic
bad flip from Ramirez
and his trip around the bases
ends with him getting sprayed
with a Gatorade shower
at home plate. An
epic Marlins comeback.
Two in the eighth, four in the
ninth. They win it.
A two run walk off home run
from Augustine Ramirez.
