AI GeneratedThe speaker discusses upgrading the HK MP5, arguing that while the platform is iconic, the semi-auto variant is hindered by a poor trigger and ergonomics. By installing a Lee Sporting LS5 Aluminum Billet Receiver, the user can integrate AR-15 components to significantly improve performance, transforming the firearm into a practical tool for self-defense and competitive shooting.

The HK MP5.
It's an iconic submachine gun known in hundreds of movies,
hundreds of video games.
You love it, you hate it.
It's one of the most iconic out there though.
The MP5, in my opinion,
is a pretty useless firearm in the semi-auto variant.
It's one of the best overall out of all submachine guns
when it comes to full autos with the roller delay system
and just the overall size and recoil impulse of it.
But in a semi-auto platform, it kind of sucks.
And my reasons on that is this whole fire control group
slash lower that you see here.
It's got a terrible trigger,
very heavy weight for the actual break.
It's got a really long reset.
The safety is just awful
and the grip ergonomics aren't the best either.
Those are some of the main downfalls of the MP5 platform.
The good is obviously the roller delay system.
It's iconic.
Everybody wants one just because you play Call of Duty
for so many years.
And just the overall feel of the gun is great.
But this right here really does hold it back.
So I found a solution for that.
This is the Lee Sporting LS5 Aluminum Billet Receiver.
This is an AR-15 pattern receiver.
When I say that, I mean it takes AR-15 triggers,
AR-15 safeties, and AR-15 grips.
So you can use any trigger, any safety,
any grip that you want and use it on an MP5.
So now you have a roller-delayed MP5 slash AR, pretty much.
This thing totally changes the game, in my opinion.
You get rid of that terrible trigger.
You get rid of the terrible safety.
You get a great grip
and you can truly move with this platform now.
I'm a competitive shooter,
so I really don't have a use for a rifle
that I can't go fast with
or a sub gun that I can't go fast with.
So I've really never branched out
into different platforms like this too much
until I found this Lee Sporting Upper or Lower.
I've always wanted an MP5
because I was a huge Call of Duty guy.
I've played competitive for a while.
Absolutely diehard COD fan until like three years ago.
Now I play Tarkov,
but this has definitely brought me back
into the nostalgic feel
and hopped me on the MP5 game pretty heavy.
I've got a nub safety on here, as always,
a Driven Arms Co. Vert Grip,
and I have, I think it's a Ballistic Core Engineering Trigger.
It's a three-pound single-stage trigger
with a super short reset.
This thing moves.
The other changes that I've done on here
is I've added a Lee Sporting Forend.
This is their modular forend.
They make them for the short versions,
which is the K that I have here,
as well as the full-size MP5s,
but it goes past the front sight post
so you can add more attachments,
reach out, get a little bit farther ergonomics on the grip.
And you can also shove a suppressor inside of here,
which is pretty freaking slick.
I was a big fan of the MP5SD.
Kind of harder to get one of those,
so I kind of made my own MP5SD at home.
Added a Deball A3 Civilian,
as well as a Surefire Mini Scout BCM CAC.
And then the worst part of this, in my opinion,
is the SIG folding brace.
You suck.
I don't know if anyone really likes these,
but that's something to be changed.
Not a downfall to the gun.
That's just what I had in my toolbox.
And then, of course, EOTech XPS2 with a Unity Riser.
So all firearms are tools at the end of the day,
so it's good to have a purpose
whenever you're picking out a firearm
that you're gonna be purchasing.
My reason for this guy is a self-defense tool.
I needed a bedside gun, everyday carry-style thing,
as well as a competitive rifle, or PCC.
I needed one of those.
So this main firearm's use is to be a self-defense tool.
It's my bedside gun, it's what I carry in my backpack.
Running 135 Hydroshocks out of it with a suppressor
is really quiet, and it's not gonna penetrate
through too many walls, especially if you hit a 2x4.
So I think this is a great nighttime firearm, as well.
If you're running night vision, there's no gas coming out,
there's no flamethrower going out of it,
like running a titanium can with an AR.
And everything you see here, suppressor, D-ball,
flashlight, EOTech on a riser, folding brace,
30-round mag, all fits in the back of this.
So it's great for hiking, camping, everyday carry,
and some really sketchy areas, if your state allows it.
And it's just an overall great tool for self-defense.
That's why I have one.
Most of my guns are all for competitive use
and for hunting and things like that.
I didn't really have anything for self-defense.
So I got this.
And this has totally changed my outlook on sub-guns.
I've always thought they were kind of stupid
to not have one that goes full-auto.
And being around SOTs and stuff all the time,
I play with a lot of full-auto sub-guns,
and going into the semi-auto variants of them,
they really kind of suck in a lot of aspects.
But this has totally changed my opinion.
360.
So is the LS5 worth it?
Absolutely.
This has completely changed the way
I look at the MP5 platform,
and I'm going to be using this thing
in so many different applications now.
Like I said before, all sub-guns have kind of
been just more of a nostalgic thing for me,
and nothing really practical.
This has changed the game completely.
Got a whole new look on the sub-gun,
and we'll be using this for so many things in the future.
Running a roller delay system with a AR lower,
it's what's there not to love.
And with the 1913 back end,
I can run whatever 1913 pattern stock or brace that I want.
And the good part about Lee Sporting
is whether you have a Century Arms
or a PTR like this one, or an HK,
single pin, semi-shelf, they have the receiver for you.
So quit running a crappy MP5 today and build this out.
All right, all you handies, I have a challenge for you.
If you own an MP5, I want you to run a build drill
at seven yards on the C-Zone IPSC at its minimum.
And I want you to run it as fast as you can.
Whether it's your first run, your 100th run, I don't care.
Just tag me in a video on Instagram,
and I will send you a Look Ma No Hands shirt for the fastest.
I think I ran mine in a 0.96, so I'm sure that can be beat.
However, I ran mine cold, but I'm still okay with it.
So, and if you don't win, you still got out there
and practice, which is the most important thing.
The only way to get better is shoot more rounds down range.
If you guys liked this video, make sure you like,
comment, and subscribe.
YouTube hates me because I have no hands and I shoot guns.
So anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated.
And remember, no excuses.
What do you mean?
He built this in a cave with a box of scraps.
