Scientists have uncovered a hidden Ice Age world beneath Texas — preserved inside a flooded cave for tens of thousands of years.

At Bender’s Cave, researchers found fossils from mammoths, giant tortoises, massive ground sloths, camels and armored pampatheres all preserved together. Even more surprising, the evidence suggests parts of Ice Age Texas may have been far warmer, wetter and more forested than the dry open landscape many people imagine.
