Municipalities mull changes to RCMP billing model

Nova Scotia is implementing a new RCMP billing model based on crime severity, geography, and population rather than officer count. While many municipalities will see costs decrease, the province requires that these savings be reinvested into non-policing public safety initiatives, such as civilian crisis response or bylaw enforcement, to ensure sustainable community safety.
