AI GeneratedMadison from The Film Magic ranks her top 10 Steven Spielberg films. While acknowledging the difficulty of narrowing down a career of over 30 movies, she balances personal favorites with critically acclaimed classics, ultimately crowning a powerful historical drama as the best of his work.
Hey guys, it's Madison here from The Film Magic and I am back for another video.
Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more movie content.
As you guys know if you've checked out previous videos I've rated David Fincher's best films
and Martin Scorsese's best films and today I'm going to be diving in
to Steven Spielberg's top 10 films of all time.
And honestly this one was harder than the rest of them because
Steven Spielberg has a lot of movies under his belt.
He has about 32 I believe.
So it was kind of really hard narrowing down 10 in my opinion
but this is kind of what I came up with and I hope you guys agree with my list
but if you don't make sure to tell me what you don't agree with in the comments below.
So taking our number 10 spot is the 2017 flick The Post starring
the GOAT, greatest of all time, Meryl Streep, and also another GOAT Tom Hanks.
Honestly this just taking number 10 just says how good of a film it is
compared to his 32 other films.
You know what I mean?
It's ahead of like 23 other films so I mean it's a good film.
I particularly like this film for the plot itself but also
because of the dynamic between Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep.
I don't know I just feel like there's something about them acting together
that really complements each other and I mean like guys Meryl Streep is like amazing.
She's arguably one of the best actresses of all our time.
So I mean it's no doubt that this is taking our number 10 spot.
Taking our number nine spot is one of my personal favorite movies
Catch Me If You Can released in 2002 starring my favorite Leonardo DiCaprio and again Tom Hanks.
I love this film.
This film is kind of like light-hearted in a way like it's not a tough film.
You know what I mean?
It's not like a harsh film compared to some of other of Spielberg's work but
I absolutely love this film.
The plot was so great.
There are so many big names in this film.
You got Amy Adams who kind of made her film debut.
But the fun fact Amy Adams didn't actually peak or blow up from Catch Me If You Can.
She actually did a couple years later when she starred in Junebug.
So Spielberg actually hoped Catch Me If You Can would have kind of blossomed
Amy Adams career but it actually didn't.
But yeah Amy Adams is in there.
You got Leo my favorite.
Tom Hanks and the dynamic between Tom Hanks and Leo is just so great.
That's why I honestly man this film was honestly going to go down in like a couple years.
As just a classic early 2000s film.
So that's why it is taking our number nine spot on the list.
Coming in eighth on the list is the 1998 flick Saving Private Ryan starring Matt Damon and
again Tom Hanks.
Okay I love this film just because I kind of love war films and I just feel like this
kind of one took a this film kind of took a different take on it and it was kind of
like it almost felt like you were on a rescue mission with them.
I don't know if anyone felt the same way while watching it but I actually watched it in my
grade 10 history class years ago and I absolutely loved it.
One thing I do not like Matt Damon.
I don't know Matt Damon is like Ben Affleck for me like it's just a hit or miss.
He's not my favorite actor.
I think he's talented but he's just not my favorite actor.
Tom Hanks on the other hand is great but I just particularly don't like Matt Damon but
I thought Matt Damon did okay in this so you know what I mean that's why it's kind of bumped
up on the list.
But yeah this is definitely kind of like a classic war film and it will go down as that
so that's why it's taking the number eight spot on our list.
Taking the number seven list is the 1997 flick The Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Again touching on that alien scene you know Spielberg kind of like dabble in that and
this movie stars Melinda Dillon and Richard Dreyfuss.
Honestly this film for me wasn't like the best like I kind of ranked it higher on the
list because it was like really kind of critically acclaimed and a lot of people were really fond
of it so I'm like okay let me just put it a little up on the list so people don't people
don't come for me.
But it wasn't really my favorite Spielberg film like in my personal opinion I think Catch
Me If You Can is a lot better than it but that's just kind of my probably Gen Z mind
but yeah it was a good film and I think Melinda Dillon particularly did so great in it and
that's why it is taking our number seven spot on the list.
Taking our number six spot is a newer film of Spielberg's the 2012 film Lincoln starring
the GOAT Daniel Day-Lewis.
Man Daniel Day-Lewis is such an underrated actor he is so talented and I mean this adaptation
of Abraham Lincoln was actually really kind of spot on and again it was really critically
acclaimed and I thought who thought the film would have been boring actually really really
enjoyed it.
I'm like well why am I enjoying this film like I thought this film would be so boring
but I really really liked it so that's why it's taking our number six spot on the list.
Now let's get into our top five Spielberg films drumroll please.
Our number five spot is going to go to the 1993 film Jurassic Park starring Laura Dern
and Sam Neill.
I mean you guys shouldn't be surprised Jurassic Park is literally a classic so that's why
it's kind of so high up the list and again we got to compare it to the 32 other of his
films not just the 10 of these.
But yeah I had to put this in the top five just because you know what I mean personally
it wasn't my favorite film I just don't like I don't know I don't like creature sci-fi
type films and honestly that's kind of hard doing a Spielberg list because a lot of Spielberg
stuff is sci-fi but yeah that's why it's you know it's it's an absolute classic.
Laura Dern was so great in it so was Sam Neill and that's why it's kind of taking our number
five spot on the list.
I should you know what I mean it should come as no surprise and taking our number four
spot is another classic the 1991 film Raiders of the Lost Ark starring Han Solo aka Harrison
Ford.
Harrison Ford had a busy time in the 80s man because he was doing Star Wars he was Indiana
Jones man he was all over the sci-fi creature world but yeah again this should be no surprise
that this is coming number four.
I mean it is literally a classic and it will go down as a classic like these are the type
of movies like my dad grew up watching you know what I mean and kind of passed on to
me as a kid so I mean you know I had to give it some credit putting it up on the list even
though personally they're not my favorite films but I mean come on they're absolute
classics and they're actually phenomenal films like personal opinion aside.
Now guys we are at our top three Spielberg films and this was extremely hard to kind
of decipher.
I kind of had to put my personal opinion to this one to kind of pick the top one spot
but without further ado taking our third spot is the 1982 film E.T. starring the young
Drew Barrymore who was so young in this film and of course Henry Shaw.
I feel like for such a young girl Drew Barrymore did so great in this like it's just so funny
seeing her so young and then seeing like her her latest work and like comparing the two.
I love doing that with actors watching their childhood jobs and then watching like what
they're doing now.
I think it's just so cool to just kind of watch but yeah we got Drew Barrymore Henry
Shaw in E.T. which again just like Raiders of the Lost Ark it is a classic.
Jurassic Park it is a classic.
These three films are absolute classics and that's why they were rated so highly on the
list and taking our number two spot this one was really hard guys picking number one or
number two but I had to just kind of go with my gut and what I feel personally taking our
number two spot is the 1975 arguably one of the best animal movies of all time Jaws
starring Robert Shaw and Lorraine Gary and honestly man this film was great I remember
watching Jaws when I was like really young and it was like kind of scaring me I'm like
oh my gosh like I am never going in water ever again.
Jaws was absolutely phenomenal it was so good that they made I think three or four Jaws
like I don't even know how many there are I've only seen two but particularly the first
Jaws was so great it was kind of scary but there was also kind of storyline to it it
was just like everything they hadn't seen in a film back in the 70s and I think it was
great and that's why it's taking our number two spot now taking our number one spot you
guys shouldn't be surprised because this title has not come up yet it is the 1993 film Schindler's
List starring Liam Neeson and honestly guys this film left me speechless everything from
it being depicted in black and white to kind of represent the time to the girl in the little
red dress and just everything this film had to offer it was such a beautiful adaptation
of a real story and I mean I think it deserves a number one spot I hope some of you guys
at least agree with me but it was really kind of hard deciphering if Jaws should be number
first number one or Schindler's List but I had to go with Schindler's List just because
it's a personal favorite movie of mine so yeah guys there you have it those are the
top 10 Spielberg films of all time according to me I hope you guys enjoyed this video and
if you want to see more movie content don't forget to like comment and subscribe thank
you guys so much for tuning in
