This video documents the complete handcrafting process of the Yueqin, a traditional Chinese musical instrument often known as the Moon Guitar because of its round body.
Crafted entirely by hand, a single Yueqin takes around ten days to complete. From selecting and shaping the wood to carving, assembling, polishing, and fine-tuning the instrument, every step requires precision, patience, and decades of experience.
Today, only a small number of craftsmen still possess this knowledge. As modern manufacturing replaces traditional methods, this century-old craft is slowly disappearing.
