Rebuilding Norwich Castle | Doors Fit For A King

‘Rebuilding Norwich Castle’ is a year-long documentary series exploring the people, partnerships, and craftsmanship behind one of the UK’s most significant heritage redevelopments.

In this film, we follow the final stages of creating Norwich Castle’s magnificent new medieval-style doors, designed to evoke the Norman Keep’s original life as a royal palace.

From intricate decoration and specialist fire testing to their challenging installation inside the Keep, the film reveals how traditional craftsmanship and modern engineering came together to create doors fit for a king.

Filmed during the production of ‘The Castle: Rebuilding History’ for Channel 4, this series offers exclusive access to the stories, people, and processes behind the transformation of Norwich Castle that could not be fully explored in the feature documentary.

New films will be released monthly, each exploring another unseen aspect of Norwich Castle’s remarkable redevelopment.
