A thirty-minute documentary about the Old Kent Road in South London, the oldest road in Britain still in continuous use, first surfaced by Roman engineers and walked by every Canterbury pilgrim who ever set out from London Bridge. The film follows the road across two thousand years of legions, plague carts, cattle drovers, coaching inns, gin palaces, German bombers and municipal neglect, and asks how a road this old and this important ended up as the cheapest square on the Monopoly board, and what that says about the way London has always treated its southern edge.
