That's what's going to make you succeed in law school and as a lawyer.
I'm Zachary Clopton, Dean of Northwestern Pritzker Law, and I'm here to answer your questions.
Our students work in every legal market, and in every city I go, I hear the same thing.
We want to hire more Northwestern lawyers.
Pennoyer v. Neff. It's the first case taught in many civil procedure classes here at Northwestern.
We of course care about grades and LSAT scores and prior experiences,
but we also look for students who have worked with other people, who have been on teams, and who collaborate.
Because that's what's going to make you succeed in law school and as a lawyer.
Deep Dish Pizza.
The reason Northwestern lawyers are known worldwide as excellent lawyers and excellent problem solvers
is that we start that work at day one at the law school.
In the Bloom Legal Clinic, in the externships our students do here in Chicago,
and in our West Coast Initiative, and across the courses that our students take.
The reason I went for Deep Dish is because you can put so many different toppings on it,
you're not stuck with just one thing.
But honestly, if that's the only thing you eat for the rest of your life, you're in real trouble.
Deep in the bones of this law school is collaboration,
and that means training people to work in teams and to collaborate to solve legal problems.
At least eight, no more than twelve.
We have leading judges and lawyers who can come and teach at the law school,
and we can have students go to the federal court, to state court, to law firms, to non-profits,
to government agencies as part of their day-to-day life at Northwestern Pritzker Law.
Students work on Supreme Court cases, they work on environmental law, on international human rights.
Students, in fact, can go to the Supreme Court to watch argument and cases on which they work,
and they can meet with Supreme Court advocates throughout the year here at the law school.
You should not be worried about it.
I'm from San Diego, California, but let me tell you, this is the best city in the world.
