The Story of London's Waterloo Necropolis Railway

In 1854, a private railway station opened beside Waterloo with one purpose: carrying London's dead 23 miles to the largest cemetery in the world. For 87 years, the London Necropolis Railway transported coffins and mourners to Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey, with separate tickets and carriages divided by class and creed. Then, on the deadliest night of the Blitz, a single bomb ended it all.
