Welcome everyone. Today's video takes us to a quick visit to Morrison's where we check out
the brand new delivery of plants and they've got some really lovely evergreen shrubs in stock at
the moment. So not only am I going to give you guys the prices but I'm going to give you a care
guide to go with it as well. So without further ado let's get into today's video. This is my local
store in Cheadle in Staffordshire. So let's jump right in. So right here we have a Fertinia
crossfraseri. So this is also known as a red robin. It is grown for its beautiful red foliage
in the spring. It's lovely to see them in stock and they do get to a rather large shrub. They're
quite good for hedgerows and things like that. £10, perhaps a touch expensive compared to some
stores that I've seen at the moment but it's nice to see some evergreen stock in at the moment. So
next one is viburnum variety called Lisa Rose. These get absolutely massive so just bear that in
mind. Again it's another lovely evergreen shrub. It has a little berry-like flower and it opens up
to a white flower in spring but it may flower a little bit sooner than that if we have a mild
autumn. Next evergreen shrub then. So this is a skimmy rubella. This requires an ericaceous compost
and it does rather well in a pot and in the ground. It does get to a really decent size as well but
it's reasonably slow growing. It does take a few years in order to put the roots down and get
growing in your garden but as mentioned it does need an ericaceous compost which means it's a
lime-free soil but don't let that put you off as again it opens up these berry-like flowers
in spring and it's a lovely white almost fragrance-like. So next one up we've got nadinia.
Now I've done a little bit of research on these and these can be a little bit of a thug in your
garden. They tend to take over a little bit and in certain parts of the US they can actually be
classed as invasive so just bear that in mind. Although it's a lovely evergreen shrub they can
take over when they start to get big and these guys can get absolutely massive so just bear that
in mind. There's actually three different varieties in stockett morrisons at the moment
from the lime green to the red what we just looked at and then this beautiful variegated variety here
as well. If you do like the look of it and you're after some winter colour I'd highly recommend this
but maybe think about popping it in a pot or maybe some sort of root barrier so it doesn't get too
big. I apologise for the sunlight we've got low light at the moment haven't we of an evening.
Next one then we've got rhododendrons. Now these aren't too bad of a price they're absolutely
a brilliant evergreen for your garden and again these require an ericaceous compost
exactly the same as the skimmier which means it needs a lime freeze soil. Again it does well in
a pot or in the ground I just recommend you dig a bigger hole than you need and you backfill it
with some ericaceous compost normally flowers in the spring as well. So moving on we'll have a quick
look at the annuals so we've got some lovely sicklemen in stock £3.50 for four plants it's
probably the going rate to be honest. Now these are a knot and hardy variety so they just flower
through the autumn and they're pretty much done. Then we've got some basket pots just there as well
so it's really interesting to see some primroses in already I can only vouch for these being
more of a like an autumn bedding plant if you like whereas they tend to not to like the wet
and don't do very well over winter but these chrysanthemums are quite the opposite they'll
do quite well they are £6 for a tray and they look fabulous over the autumn period.
There we have it I hope you enjoyed today's quick video if you got something from it then please do
give it a big thumbs up it really does help me out drop a comment down below as it helps share
it out to others who love gardening just like we do until tomorrow I will see you in the garden
you take care.
