Did Archaeologists Finally Find the Real Tower of Babel?

Mysteries Of Ancient History

For more than two thousand years, people have searched the ruins of Mesopotamia for the monument described in Genesis 11. But the strongest evidence may not come from a legendary ruined tower at all.

It comes from Babylon itself.

At the heart of ancient Babylon stood Etemenanki — a massive stepped ziggurat dedicated to Marduk. Archaeologists uncovered its enormous square foundation, measuring roughly 91 meters on each side. Babylonian texts describe its construction, royal inscriptions speak of raising its summit toward the heavens, and an extraordinary black-stone stele actually depicts the tower itself.
