Five years of Impossible Climb Arette in one video. The most brutal hill climb in France, and the machines built to beat it.

The event runs on the Mouline hill in Arette, in the Barétous valley in the heart of the Pyrenees, southwestern France. 230 meters of raw hillside, 8 meters wide, with an elevation that varies from 70 to 82% at its steepest point. It is a round of the French Impossible Climb Championship and it has been held since 1984, which makes it the first impossible climb ever organized in France. Most years nobody reaches the top.

There is no factory bike for this. Every rider designs and builds his own prototype, with rules requiring at least 600cc, and the result is machines that look like they came out of a science-fiction movie. Extended swingarms, paddle tires, nitro, and engines that sometimes push past 1000hp. Around 60 to 70 riders hit the hill each year, four attempts each, and whoever covers the most distance takes the trophy.
