Autumn in the english countryside 🍂🐑

Good morning! Look how beautiful these are. I saw them yesterday in just in a farm shop in their little bed and I just thought they have to come home. I need to actually get something to put them in. Ideally a much taller vase but this is not waterproof which I found out the hard way because I left it on the side and I came back to it and it was just water everywhere. So I've had them in here because it kind of retains the water it just leaks really slowly so I've just put them in here overnight but we need to find somewhere to put them but honestly let me show you up close look how beautiful they are. I don't know if the sun is interfering with that but aren't they beautiful? Anyway we'll have to find a vase for them later today. I've just made a ginger tea because do you know what? Sorry if this is TMI. What I don't think it is, it's not like a stomach upset it's just a really bad stomach ache I had last night which is very unlike me and I'm so yeah it's just so sore this morning so I thought maybe a ginger tea will do something. Wait I have to talk to you about honestly the highlight of my whole week this week. So a couple of days ago I created on Instagram a broadcast channel which I didn't even like if you don't know what that is honestly same. Then a couple of days ago I was talking to someone about it and they were basically saying it's pretty much like a group chat within your Instagram so it lives in your DMs so if you join the group chat basically whenever I send my little messages into the group chat it will basically come into your DMs so it's almost like having a big whatsapp group chat and it's the best thing ever because I am just on it all day every day like chatting to you about the most random stuff you can reply in there you can do like reactions it's so fun because it's so much more like it feels so personal I'm just writing in like random pictures of me and Ru doing stuff like random thoughts throughout the day. I put in like a screenshot from my notes of my banana bread recipe and then it's random pictures of me and Ru. Actually I'll show you how you can join um if you're on Instagram and you want to just chat to me all day I will say I'm on it all day just chatting about this that and the other so if you go onto my profile you see here it says Hannah's House you just click on that and then I'm pretty sure it'll probably pop up saying join channel and then like I said it goes into your messages into your direct messages. Okay I thought I'd come and sit and properly say good morning to you and also chat to you about possibly my most asked question ever I don't think I've ever had more DMs more comments more questions than about this bedding it's a new collection called A Tale of House and Hedgerow which is just the most beautiful like autumnal um sort of name for a collection and it's of course from Piglet in Bed because where else would it be from I would probably say that Piglet in Bed is my most mentioned brand quite possibly and it has always been totally organic but I am actually working with Piglet in Bed on this part of the video which is just honestly of all of the brands that I could work where this would be so high on the list because it's just a brand that I have loved so much talked about so much I always go to their shop I'm always wearing this cardigan is Piglet all of my bedding always Piglet um all of my pyjamas pretty much all of them Piglet I'm just the world's biggest fan of the brand so I'm genuinely thrilled to have the opportunity to work with them on the most beautiful collection also the most me collection because the whole collection is based on like British hedgerows it feels very British it's a British brand it all feels very rural very countryside very inspired by nature in fact let me actually show you I want to show you the details up close um and also the be like more adventurous with my bedding I used to think you just have to have all white all matching but actually it's so much cozier and it's so much more fun when you just layer different patterns different colours and it all just ties together I feel like everything from Piglet kind of works together this is the pattern up close I said on Instagram it's so beautiful that it could honestly be like a screensaver and then I ended up going with this fitted sheet which is like a pink check it's gorgeous and it goes so so well with the bedding um the colours I think I mean I guess they're designed to go together and then these pillows that I have behind are also Piglet they're from a different collection which I'll make sure that I've linked for you as well but also what I love so much and actually something that I touched on in last week's vlog is that Piglet and Bed use 100% natural materials so for example this is 100% cotton they have some collections that are 100% linen or sometimes there are linen cotton blend but it's all natural materials and I was saying last week that that's something I'm trying to be really mindful of just having more natural materials that are obviously better for our skin and things especially for our bedding um because we spend so many hours in bed so I just think having like higher quality definitely natural materials is actually so important I do think that this collection in particular will probably sell out I just have a feeling that it will sell out just based on how many messages I've personally got but also based on how beautiful it is and I love that it's tied into the countryside and it all just feels so perfect for the season I'm actually just keeping all of my fingers crossed that everything is still in stock by the time you see this on Sunday because this launched on Thursday and I did share links on Instagram because I was so aware that maybe by the time we get to Sunday some of it could be sold out but and get myself dressed because I'm still in my pajama bottoms okay I am going over to Burford to meet my mum because when would I ever say no to a trip to Burford Garden Centre and then I've got to go straight from Burford to the new house because I've got a meeting with the architect um and we're like going over he's drawn up some plans um and we're going over them together but if I'm not careful I'm gonna end up being late for the architect so we better get going this has been recommended to me lots of times I really like this throw this whole back wall is so cozy all the textures all the colours mum's gonna get this jumper which I'm actually jealous of so I will be borrowing it so nice mum's also getting this belt which I'm also jealous of and will also be borrowing this is so pretty this wreath well well well look where we are I actually come over to the house all the time I'm here every single week like doing little things and meeting with people but there's never anything like nothing's happening yet um I know we talked about this really briefly last week but we're just in the phase of just waiting we're waiting for plans waiting for surveys waiting for permissions just there's a lot of conversations and a lot of like drawings and meetings and things like that but nothing that I can actually show you and I was even thinking because I was here today to meet the architect and I was thinking maybe he bought like all the big plans on paper which is so exciting and I was thinking maybe I could show you little bits here and there but honestly um at the moment it's just like floor plans and there's just nothing really and it's not even we're not at the final version yet like still the plans that we were looking through today we were discussing so many changes too but we're getting there and it's it's just beyond it's actually just beyond beyond exciting there's so many things like just little change I'll tell you one change that we're thinking of doing one small tweak to the inside floor plan that I think will actually make a huge difference so you know where the downstairs loo is it's kind of like it's in the hallway it comes straight off the hallway it's in the oldest part of the cottage it's right next to the front door it's kind of stealing space from the hallway and stealing light because the loo blocks the window so there would be a window or like historically there would have been a window into the hallway which would make such a big difference in terms of light in the hallway because obviously that's in the old bit of the cottage so the ceilings are quite low and it's like flagstone floors so just having that extra bit of light and the staircase might be slightly moving depending on what ends up happening with the plans but it will basically mean that if you come through the front door we've got a much bigger hallway that will have a window in it now rather than no natural light and it means from the dining room we could potentially have like double doors opening into the hallway if that feels right I'm still not convinced that that would feel I don't know I'm really mindful because that's the old bit of the house to really because double doors are not very traditional are they or are they I don't know I need to look into it but it would mean we could potentially do things like that and there will be another doorway in there that goes into something very special um that does not exist yet um but may well become my favorite room in the house so yeah anyway it's all happening it's just all happening very much behind the scenes and as soon as there's something fun to show you or as soon as we've got permissions as soon as we know what's happening with the house I will obviously get back to sharing it with you but while we're here I thought what we could do is go into the orchard because I just had a quick look and things are already starting to go over like some of the fruit on the trees is already well what the deer have actually left for me what they've kindly left for me is already starting to go rotten on the trees so I thought better get out there take everything that I can that's still good there's lots of really gorgeous apples and plums there's some damsons um but I'm not sure what's good I just tried a plum which feels so weird to like just go out in the orchard take fruit and eat it because I'm so used to obviously having to go to the farm shop or go to the supermarket to buy my fruit but no apparently I just get my fruit from my garden now which is insane anyway I thought we would collect what we could and then later we can maybe use some of it maybe make some jams maybe make like an apple pie but I thought either way better to collect it now since it's going over so let's go do that I was thinking should we make a crumble or a pie but I've never made an apple pie so I thought we would give it a go and I found some puff pastry so normally the store-bought puff pastry that's like ready to go it's got it normally has like a lot of ingredients in that maybe aren't the best but I found one let me show you okay so this is the puff pastry it's dorset pastry um I got it on Ocado it says natural clean pure and it even goes out of the way to sort of say like this is talking about e-numbers that other companies hide they're saying we don't have any of the e-numbers in ours so it seems like a good one so I'm going to obviously roll this out in my pie dish and then we'll make the filling and take it from there okay I thickened the sauce a bit it's actually very thick now just using flour on the heat and now I'm going to pour it over I just lick the spoon and it honestly tastes like apple caramel it is unbelievable okay I don't actually have enough pastry I'm realising but that's all I've got so we're gonna have to try and just hope that it turns out okay and maybe when it puffs up let's just put it in the oven and see what happens okay well I needed more pastry that's what I've learnt for next time but hopefully it tastes nice I don't really know how to do this because of the pastry issue I might just like steal a little bite okay I'm just gonna try a little mouthful and see if it's good okay that's unbelievable I'm so sad about the pastry because that's honestly delicious okay I can't imagine that this is very flattering lighting but I really think we're beyond that I feel like we're best friends and can I just say actually on a slightly more serious not serious but like what's the word sincere note that you know a couple of weeks ago um at the end of the vlog I had mentioned that I was going to show you doing some skincare and I wasn't really wearing any makeup and that I've always felt really uncomfortable with no makeup on which like honestly sick of thinking it sick of talking about it sick of it but all of your comments on that video have genuinely truly helped and it's been a lifelong thing for as long as I can remember honestly probably since like when do you start wearing makeup like 13 14 ever since then I've always felt not myself or like not good enough or something when I didn't have makeup on and genuinely in the last couple of weeks since I did that I do feel so much more relaxed about it I don't know that it's because I would love to say that like you know I found total acceptance in the last couple of weeks and I love myself with no makeup on but I think the mind shift change is just who cares like who actually cares there's not that doesn't always have to be so much importance on what you look like all the time like I know you're not here for what I look like and sometimes I know that sounds crazy but sometimes I actually do have to remember that if I come on and I look like really not put together or today I feel you know I was saying this morning obviously about my stomach I feel like my entire body is so inflamed and I don't know I just have to remind myself like that's not the important thing who cares who cares I know you don't care I don't care like when it comes to anybody else I could not care less ever what any of my friends look like what anyone I watch online looks like what anyone just anyone is like the least interesting thing it truly is about somebody um so why do I feel this need of like that I need to make sure I don't know anyway that was a bit of a side note because I'm actually here to talk to you about books because I finished my book but I just I think I wanted to let you know that what you say really does have an impact and I've read every comment and it really is actually changing something for me like rewiring a lifelong way of thinking so thank you um and I do also think not to talk about my broadcast channel again you're gonna get sick of hearing me talk about that um but I also think that's actually massively helped because I feel like I don't know there's something about that that I just feel it's a lot more spontaneous it's just like I'll take a quick picture and upload it in there and it's not like sometimes when you choose pictures for Instagram like on your main page or even because I edit my own vlogs I have to like watch hours and hours of my own face and yeah there's always like something I can find that I'm like I don't like that or that's not good enough or whatever um but something about the broadcast channel it's a lot more just like how I would message my family my friends whatever it's like I don't take any time to think about it so I think that's helped you anyway that was totally not what we were here for we're here to talk about The Nightingale because I finished this last night and you were so right I loved it I really really loved this book on one hand it feels like an easy read in the sense that um it's really easy just to pick it up get straight back into the plot you can really easily follow what's going on it's just really I don't really know what the word is but you know a book that just the pages just flow and it's not at no point you feel like you're having to fight to understand or to follow or whatever so it's an easy read in that sense I feel like this is a really good all-rounder because it's also just a really good book really good plot um very emotive but if you like historical fiction this if you haven't read it I feel like everyone's read it but if you haven't read it it's set in the war in France 1940 it's about two sisters and it's yeah I really really love historical fiction so I loved it so I would highly recommend and that brings me on to what do I read next which is always the thing so I'm really trying to read from my own bookshelf because I've got a whole um shelf of books that I haven't read yet so I picked three and I thought I would get your opinions on what I should read next so the first one is one that actually everyone is talking about and lots of you have recommended that I read um and this came from my mum because she recently read this and has been telling me read it so I might read this next because I want to be able to talk about it with my mum so this is Theo of Golden by Alan Levi or Levy um and I actually don't know anything about this so shall we find out together one spring morning a stranger arrives in the town of Golden no one knows who he is or where he came from his name is Theo and he's arrived there by chance or has he he visits the local coffee house where 92 pencil portraits hang on the walls portraits by a local artist of the people of Golden Theo begins purchasing them one at a time and putting them back in the hands of their rightful owners with each exchange a story is told a friendship is born and the life altered but who is Theo and what has brought him to Golden a story of seeing and being seen Theo of Golden is a beautifully crafted novel about the power of creative generosity the importance of wonder to a purposeful life and the invisible threads of kindness that bind us to one another so it kind of sounds to me like we're going to learn all the different life stories of the people that live in this town but all I know is that everybody speaks so highly of this book including my mum so that's option one option two is the safe keep this popped up on there was a girl talking about it on my tiktok and saying that it's her favorite book she's read so far in 2026 it was a six star read for her um and she just made it sound really interesting but it is set in the summer and I never know how I feel about reading like a summer read in the winter or the autumn so that's option two which I am really intrigued by just because um the girl on tiktok really sold it to me and then finally one that I've been meaning to read for so long which is Shuggie Bain um and this one I feel like we've read together before but I'm pretty sure it follows the story of a young boy who's growing up in Glasgow and I think he's living in poverty and it might be his mum is maybe an alcoholic or something I think he's having a pretty tough childhood and I'm pretty sure this story follows him um but again meant to be an incredible book but yeah they're my three options so let me know what you think if you've read them because I'm sure lots of you have read some of them if not all of them so let me know in case I haven't I may have started reading one by the time you see this but if not I would love your opinions. I'm just unboxing a top up from Teller and Ashe this on your bedsheets or actually on your clothes on everything the best I've not tried this one date night I thought I would show you I think actually all of these oh no this is my favourite um duvet day that's a really good one and then this one I haven't tried pistachio yum pear jasmine vanilla sandalwood I love sandalwood but honestly cannot recommend enough oh there's my others wait one sec this is one that I'm currently using it's basically empty it's also filthy this one's aurora and this is a really I actually think this is what my bedsheets currently smell of this one is so good and the scent just lasts forever and then of course one of my all-time favourites um home sweet home let's just have a reminder it's just so good pear jasmine lily of the valley sandalwood again I really do enjoy the sandalwood note but anyway I was just unboxing and I thought I would show you do you know what else I'll show you one sec this arrived and I haven't unboxed it yet but I feel very very spoiled because this is from and that is a candle called relax look how gorgeous and I love the fact that it's like embossed it smells gorgeous okay gorgeous how good will that look by the sink it's hand wash and hand lotion I never normally unbox things with you but it just arrived and I had to show you um the taran ash bits so I thought we should look at this together these are all um bath and shower gel how lovely anyway oh do you like this that's a good look isn't it okay I'm gonna give you one guess for where we're going now it just wouldn't be one of my vlogs without going on a dog walk the thing is if you have a dog you walk the dog every single day um and actually Ru's been out she's been at mum and dad's for some of today so mum has taken the dogs out earlier today but my dad's going out this evening with one of his friends so I said to my mum how do we feel about skipping cooking and just going to the pub for dinner and it was a yes from mum so um we thought we would there's like a really lovely woods that we sometimes go to so we thought we would walk the dogs in the woods and then just go straight to dinner we are going to the swan in a village called southrop um which we've been to before but we've never had dinner there and it's the same owners as time I'm very excited to see the menu later I can imagine the food's going to be so good and if that does not sound like a perfect perfect evening I don't know what does nothing beats nothing at all autumn winter dog walk and then pub there is just no beating that there's honestly nothing that I enjoy more and it's just like not quite the same in the summer something about it being like cold and rainy and dark and gloomy and then the reward being the pub and like a really indulgent like pie or something it's just the best so I will see you on the dog walk we're in the middle of the woods and mum's and we're seeing apparently or hearing a Eurasian nuttatch which neither of us have ever heard of and apparently is quite rare I said to mum that this might actually be a house that needs more work than ours does look at this photo of the pub with the old cars outside okay we're home I'm just making a cup of tea the pub was so good it was such a cozy pub but also the food was really good um so I would actually highly highly recommend apparently I keep seeing on social media that drinking your tea really hot is really bad for you honestly can we have any fun that's my question when I wake up in the morning this hot water bottle is still warm honestly most of the time it keeps the heat so well and it's so cozy right I think I'm going to take myself for a bath I'm not normally a bath girl but it just feels like the kind of night where I'd appreciate a bath and then I'm going to get an early night I'm just going to come sit in bed I'm going to watch some tv I'm going to watch either Mobland, Slow Horses um I can never remember what last scene last scene there's actually loads of choice which is perfect just to get an early night um and I'm going to hopefully wake up feeling better but I wanted to let you know that I'm probably not going to be here next week unless something changes I don't think I'll be here next week because I'm going away I'm going to see Kenny which will be so nice um I'm not going for long though at all because he's got work commitments I've got work commitments um so I'll be back the week after so first week of October I'll definitely be back um and I'll be a video that Sunday but I think next week there probably won't be a video just because I'll be traveling I don't know what I'll share if anything from Thailand but what I do know is if I do share it guess what I'm going to share it everyone you'll be so sick of me talking about this broadcast channel um but if I do share anything it will probably be on the broadcast channel just because I feel like it's just a lot easier I can just pose and I obviously when I see Kenny the time is so precious I always say this but I don't really want to be like on my phone too much or using my camera too much so I think if anything I'll just like share a few moments and things on that broadcast channel but that's where I'll be next week I'm pretty sure we haven't booked the flights yet but it's always like normally I'll just decide the day before honestly which maybe sounds kind of crazy but that's just how we've always done it because his schedule changes all the time my schedule changes all the time we just try and find like 10 days to two weeks last minute that we can both do um so I think that will mean I'm not here next week unless something changes um but definitely first week of October I will be back um and I think that's it feel like I've talked your head off today I really do I won't sit and chat for too long but just to say love you so much appreciate you so much I'm gonna miss you so much for the next couple of weeks um but yeah it's only one Sunday that I won't be here and then I will be back and that's it so I hope you have the best couple of weeks and I truly can't wait to catch up with you um in a couple
