Ormond Beach officer shot by suspect in hospital

Michael Hightower, a contracted janitor out on bond for a previous hit-and-run, is accused of attacking an elderly couple at Daytona College and later shooting a police officer. The victims, aged 74 and 79, are on life support after being run down and beaten. Officer Austin Long was shot in the leg during the suspect's hospital transport but is expected to recover.
