Fire breaks out at water treatment plant in La Verne

An electrical fire occurred at a Metropolitan Water District substation in La Verne, causing explosions and smoke. Local and LA County fire departments responded to contain the blaze. While precautionary evacuations and shelter-in-place orders were issued for nearby schools and businesses, the fire remained limited to the substation with no disruption to regional water services.
