This Rockford Table Was Falling Apart. We Fixed It.

Before this Rockford dining table could be refined, it had to become structurally trustworthy again.

Chapter One of The Berkshire Collection follows the complete furniture restoration of the collection’s architectural anchor. Made by the Rockford Furniture Company as part of its “A Line,” the table is best described within the walnut Jacobean/Spanish Revival tradition and broadly dates to the 1920s–1930s. Its substantial turned base and carved details carry the formal presence of that revival language.

Subsequent maker-label and archival research supersedes the earlier mahogany-family wording in the narration. The table, chairs, and buffet descended together in one family; an exact single factory production run has not been confirmed.

Loose support blocks, split joints, damaged areas, and missing wood were addressed before the finish work began. New hardwood repairs were measured and shaped to work with the original construction.

Once the base was sound, the tabletop was carefully prepared, renewed with warm color, and protected with a restrained satin finish. The carved base received a hand-rubbed wax finish that preserved its detail and quiet sheen.

The restored table measures 66 inches wide without its leaves, 84 inches with one leaf, and 102 inches with both original 18-inch leaves installed. It is presented as part of the complete Rockford Dining Suite with six restored chairs and a coordinating buffet.
