Hello and welcome back. I'm Elizabeth and in today's video I'm taking you with me to Goodwill
for a thrift store shopping trip. The shelves were loaded full of treasures. I will show you
what I'm seeing on the shelves and what I end up bringing home, how I style it, and also we're
going to do a couple thrift flips. I hope that you enjoy. Let's jump right in. I did think these
mugs were really unique and cool. They are definitely older. Now not totally my style or
my aesthetic but I know somebody will appreciate them so I left them behind. But is anybody else's
Goodwill pricing every coffee mug at four dollars? Because I have never seen one there for less than
that and I feel like that's kind of expensive for a used coffee mug. I thought this blue jar was
really cool. It looked older to me. Let me know if you would know whether it is an older one or not.
I kind of regret not getting it now that I see it. I just didn't have a specific use for it when I saw
it but it is cool. It's a cool color and a cool shape and if it is a genuinely old one I'm really
gonna regret leaving it behind. But have you noticed a theme with the pricing of things? Let me
know down in the comments if you're catching on. When I first started thrifting I would pick up
these little wooden bowl type things. I guess you could say they are really cute but I already have
a couple at home and I'm not using them so I left that behind. But I thought this, I don't know if
this is iron or just metal, but kind of a unique piece. I could see it during Christmas time with some
greenery or something draped within it. I'm always picking up these little ships. I just can't help
myself but this one felt a little like a toy ship kind of a look to me. So I put him back also but
we're about to find probably my favorite thrift find of the day and here it comes. I'm looking
around at the art and then I peek back behind because I saw some wood and I see this darling
little handmade shelf. I'm sure it's probably older just based off of the finish of it. It's very
yellowy orange but I knew for sure that this little cutie had to come home with me and this
was one of the things we're going to be giving a little makeover to later on in the video.
Okay well now we actually have made our way over to Salvation Army which is my favorite thrift
store here in our little town. I always find something good here. So let's browse through
here see what we can find and then we'll move on to doing the makeovers on some of the thrifted items
and also styling them. Since we're such good thrifting buddies now I feel totally comfortable
asking you if you'd give this video a like especially if you're enjoying just a relaxing
time going along and thrifting with me browsing through the thrift stores and seeing what
secondhand finds are out there for the taking. And also if you like vintage as much as I do
I'm always looking for something that's aged, that's older, that's been around, not mass-produced
and I think this little one dollar box is exactly what I was looking for for the DIY I've been
wanting to do for a while now and I'm going to show you what it is in this video. It turns out
really nice I think. So that's it for the thrifting. Let's head home and start working
on these thrift flips. So the plan with this little wooden box is to embellish it with
seashells that we found on our trip to Florida over the winter. I have been seeing these seashell
boxes on different home tours and things that I've been watching and I thought hey I can make
one of those. I have some seashells that we're not doing anything with so why not use them and
have a little fun crafting and I really like how this turned out. I'm going to show you
a quick look at the process and then how I style it and hopefully this will inspire you
to embellish something maybe a thrift store find with some seashells that you may have and give a
little one dollar cheap homemade box a completely new identity. Here's how it looked all done and
now you can see I'm realizing I should have painted the box white before I started but no
worries I go back through with some chalk paint and a paintbrush and fill in the little gaps and
this is what I ended up with. Also you can see I brought home that tray and I just am always going
to bring home a wooden tray if it's in good shape and a good price. So let's move on to the next
thrift flip and here on my kitchen counter is that adorable handmade vintage shelf I grabbed
for five dollars. I lived with it for a few days here styled on my kitchen counters and realized
I just was not a fan of the very bright yellow orange finish that it had on it. I thought it
was just competing too much with all of the copper in the room so I decided to just go for it and I
grabbed a paint sample in this majolica green by Sherwin-Williams. I wanted something fresh
and muted so this color is going to be perfect I think.
Let's get this little shelf painted and see if I made the right decision.
