Taking the Marine Atlantic ferry could look a little different as CFIA phases out screening for soil pests in N.L.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is phasing out routine soil inspections and vehicle washing at Newfoundland ferry terminals in Argentia and Portobasque. Moving toward a risk-based approach, the agency will target high-risk machinery rather than all passenger vehicles, sparking concerns from agriculture unions regarding food safety and job losses.
