What Keeps Being Found Off Australia's Coast Shouldn't Exist

Off Victoria, something sitting in water that should have been mapped decades ago, and wasn't. Off Queensland, a discovery that broke a working assumption researchers had held for years. And off the wider Australian coast, a structure taller than the Empire State Building, hiding through more than a century of active surveying until a team searching for something completely unrelated stumbled onto it by accident.

None of these were the payoff of a dedicated hunt. Every one of them turned up sideways, during work that had nothing to do with finding them. Put together, that starts to say something bigger than any single discovery on its own: this coastline still isn't done showing us what's actually down there.
