They Scanned Beneath Göbekli Tepe from Space!

In September twenty twenty five a team dragged a five probe magnetometer across the eastern slope of Göbekli Tepe, ground that had been invisible to instruments for thirty years because olive trees stood in the way until they were finally removed. What came back were circular enclosures, walls and rooms that appear in no excavation report or documentary anywhere. In this one I go through what scanning has and has not been able to do. Klaus Schmidt's original surveys back in two thousand and three, which put at least twenty enclosures and over two hundred pillars in that hill, of which four have ever been opened. The cloverleaf anomaly in the northwest that turned into Enclosure H exactly where the radar said it would be. And the wider pattern, because this keeps happening everywhere. Declassified CORONA spy photos revealing thousands of Middle Eastern sites, some now destroyed. Sarah Parcak's infrared work suggesting under one percent of Egypt has been excavated. LiDAR finding an entire city under the canopy at Angkor. But here is the limit nobody can scan past. A magnetometer can tell you a pillar is standing three metres down. It cannot tell you whether there is a vulture on it. The painted boar, the grooved skulls, the face on a pillar, the leopard rider, every one of those came out of the dirt under somebody's trowel.
