Control Panel Design for Beginners Pt. 2: Layout

Welcome to Part 2 of the Control Panel Design series, where we take an industrial electrical control panel from a complete bill of materials to a clear, dimensionally accurate layout design. This series is built for beginners who want to understand how professional control panels come together, in a practical step by step example.
If you want to follow along with this example, all LeMaster Tech Subscribers can receive a free 6-month trial by emailing [email protected] or message them at https://www.cofaso.com/en/contact with code 'LeMasterTech6'
In this video, we start at the very beginning: defining mounting plate dimensions from overall panel size. From there, we walk through how to import part macros from OEM websites into CAD software. We then talk through separating AC and DC control voltages and other best practices for high level placement strategies.
We go step by step, adding power supply, PLC, IO cards, switch, fuses, terminal blocks and more one at a time and talk through common conventions for placing all components.
By the end of this video, you will understand the full workflow: dropping in power, adding IO hardware and switches, terminal blocks and power distribution and more.
