Archaic Kouroi: Cleobis and Biton and other examples

Just as they did with temple types, the Greeks established models of perfection for statuary that would be replicated throughout the Archaic period. Starting in the 7th century BC, the first examples of monumental Archaic statuary were created: the *kouroi* and *korai*. The former were nude, the latter clothed; they represented young people at the peak of their inner development, made visible through their physical perfection. How can we recognize them?
