TERTIARY SCHOLARSHIPS FOR JAMAICAN & CARIBBEAN STUDENTS | LIVE TELETHON @PALAS

On Saturday, July 17, PALAS hosted a LIVE telethon, streamed by various media platforms across the world. The goal? To secure donations from well thinking individuals in Jamaica, the diaspora and the wider Jamaica loving community for needy students in Jamaica.

What Is PALAS?

PALAS ( The Peace And Love Academic Scholarship, Inc.) is a Non profit, 501(c)(3) organization as defined by the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS), which means your donation/contribution is tax deductible.

The organization provides high school, university/college scholarship for young people in the Caribbean & for students from the Caribbean attending college in the USA.

They believe in accountability, transparency and honesty therefore all funds are invested in the scholarship program

HOW DID PALAS START?

✓ PALAS was founded by Rula Brown in December, 2010 after the brutal killing of Vanessa Campbell (an 18 year old reggae artist) in Portmore, Jamaica.
✓ An initial scholarship program was created to assist high school students from Vanessa’s Alma mater, Bridgeport High School.
✓After an appeal by founder Rula Brown to listeners of his popular Internet radio shows produced excellent responses.
✓ It was subsequently decided to extend the scholarship program to high school and University students currently residing in the Caribbean region & attending college in the USA.
