Hi everyone! We've just returned from a few days in the lovely city of Bruges.
In case you don't know, Bruges is my second favorite city in Europe. I'm not going to say
yet which one is my favorite, but if you haven't been there, you should. It's an amazing city,
great Belgian beer, for those of you who like beer, great food, and as you know usually when
I'm abroad I try to sample the authentic local cuisine of that particular city or country.
However, we came across TripAdvisor, a Greek street food place that ranked high in the list,
so we thought, well, we're going to be there, we might as well give it a try and see what it's
like. And if it's worth putting it on our channel, we might as well do that as well.
So we went there, we saw plenty of people outside queuing, the menu looked good, we tried it,
we loved it, and we thought, right, it's important to let you guys know about it.
So the place is called The Olive Street Food. It's a small place, there's no sitting,
you just basically take it and you eat it on the spot, or you take it at your home.
It's very close to the Marked Square, so bang, in the heart of the center of Bruges.
And as I said, we saw a lot of queues, we looked at the menu and we tried it. We tried, first of
all, the pita gyros, pork, which is the traditional thing you get in Greece, and it was amazing. And
as you will see later in the video, we tried it again, and we tried it again, and we tried it
again. Overall, in the six days we stayed in Bruges, we had three pita gyros from there.
At a price of €7.40, Bruges is not a cheap place. And just to give you a bit of a context,
to have a small Belgian waffle with nothing on, or with just a little bit of sugar, it will cost
you around €3-4. And the size that you're going to see me eating in a minute is going to cost you
€7.40. So it's definitely, if you're on a budget, it's definitely spending a little bit of euros
and order from them, because it is very, very filling, lovely big portions.
As you see in the video, the place is spotless. The people are very friendly, Greeks.
They have a wide menu, wide variety of things. You can have your pita, your pork, your,
I think it was the beef teki as well. There were Greek sausages, chicken. There was options for
the vegetarians as well. The tzatziki looked very much homemade. Look at this, guys. This is the
third I've had in Bruges. Enjoy it, and I'll tell you about it all later. The important thing about
this particular Greek place is that in Liverpool there's quite a few places, but I haven't found
one that tastes like the pork pita gyros you get in Greece. This one does, and the tzatziki
tastes homemade. It doesn't taste ready-bought. I don't know if they buy it, but it's high quality,
but it seems to me that the tzatziki is homemade, because it's really delicious.
The chips, as you can see, they're fresh. They cut them on the spot. The gyros is amazing,
and I'll tell you what, this is my third in the five days we stayed here in Bruges,
and even though it's still early lunchtime, I wasn't really hungry, but I thought I will
have it once so we can film it, but the minute I got it, I started getting hungry.
I'm gonna miss it until next time I find a delicious one in our next visit.
All the details of the place in the description of the video below, but if you come to Bruges
and you're looking for a really delicious Greek pita gyros,
or souvlaki, they have kebabs, they have other things, this is the place to go.
So, the Olive Street Food. If you find your way to Bruges, definitely, definitely the place to go
and try a Greek souvlaki or a Greek gyros. It's definitely passed the Greekosophy test,
thoroughly recommend it, and if I go to Bruges for yet another visit, I am definitely gonna go there.
Just a final thing, there is a restaurant as well called the Olive Tree.
Similar logos with the Olive Street Food, so it could be that it's the same people that own that
place as well. Same street, a little bit before the street food place. We didn't go there because
we didn't have enough time, we had to sample some of the local cuisine as well, but it's definitely
keeping an eye or asking the people in the street food place if it's their restaurant,
or if they're watching this video, they can let us know in the comments below and
everybody can see that. Thank you very much for watching, this is Stam from the Greekosophy
channel, we tell you everything you need to know about Greece, so keep an eye for future videos.
