Listen, we are all professionals. We all get judged for what we do.
Our professional work is to play football. In my world, I get judged after every last
training and every last game I do. It's part of the game. If you come up among lions,
you should expect to get attacked by the lions. It's normal because if you're a cat,
you will run away. But if you're a lion, you will stay among the other lions.
That's my world. That's where I come from.
I prepare myself in my profession, which is playing football. I practice a lot and I'm a
little bit of a workaholic. I like to work and I like to suffer through my work. That is when I
feel on top and as my best of me. I think the mental part is 50% in everything we do.
Either if you play football or whatever you work with. If you're not ready mentally,
it doesn't matter how big talent you have or how prepared you are. If you're not prepared mentally
and ready with the mental part, then it's very difficult. I think the confidence comes from the
mental part. You have confidence and the mental is there. I always had a big confidence in what
I'm doing and I believe in what I'm doing. Sometimes right, sometimes not right. You
still have to believe in what you do and reach for it. My confidence is strong. I never had
a problem preparing myself mentally because I know if I'm ready mentally, then the rest,
I have no problems because I know what I'm able to do. I know my skill set and
I know I can do above normal. If you're not ready mentally, then it's very difficult.
In everything I do, I try always to make the difference. I always say, why be normal when
you can be the best? That goes for everything I do. If I play football or if I'm in the
fragrance world or whatever project, I'm involved. That's my mindset.
Finding different stories is making new stories. I always try to be unlimited,
reach as high as possible. I have one thing that I'm never satisfied. I always want more.
When I do something and everything is okay, the next day it's not okay. I want even more.
I always work hard to reach as far as possible. That's who I am. I'm never satisfied. I always
want more. If that is positive or negative, I don't know. Sometimes I think you have to stop,
enjoy the moment, enjoy for whatever you achieved or whatever you do. That maybe will come
the next chapter of my life. I think I'm very organized. I like to have control in everything
I do. If something goes wrong or a mistake was done, then I can blame myself. I cannot blame
other ones because if you let loose, then people are in charge and they control. They do their own
thing and then it's in the hands of other ones. I like to be in control, especially if my name is
involved or me as a person is involved. I do things because I believe in things. I believe
I can make a difference or make noise. Some things you do from your heart, some things you
do from the brain. That's the challenge. I'm not afraid to take a challenge that is not easy,
that is very difficult, but that's who I am as a person. To plan and be organized and be
very professional, I think. Whatever you do, respect and take responsibility. I think it's
all about what you believe in. Some people see it as provocative and some people see it
as confidence. I say what I think, I say what I believe in. Afterwards, maybe it doesn't suit
everybody, but I'm just being myself. I don't change for nobody or something. I've been myself
since day one and I said to myself, I will not change for nobody or however successful I will
become. I will not change. I will be myself. People have different opinions. They have the
right to have opinions. You don't like it, don't read it. It's interesting to see people out there
and since the social media started, you do something and then how people react. Sometimes
what you see, maybe it's because you want to see it, to make noise, just to get that reaction from
different people. It's not always that they understand that, but at the same time, you feel
that's exactly the reaction I wanted or the answer or the opinion. I like to do things opposite what
whoever does, so I don't like to follow other people. I follow myself. I think it's like we
talked just before, preparing mentally, being confident. When people say no, you say yes.
When they say yes, you say no. I think that is being yourself and you follow your own path,
your own way of doing things. It's not always the right thing, but you work hard, you believe
and you take responsibility. I mean, I have an example. When I did my book, everybody said, why
you don't do a book while you're active? That is exactly what I will do. When I went to England
to play, everybody said, no, I'm too old, I'm that, I'm this, I'm that. That is exactly what
I will do. I will prove them wrong and demonstrate the opposite for them. That is also a challenge,
but you have to have courage to take the challenge and not go take the safe line always.
That is a risk, but when you succeed, the feeling is even better. The feeling is amazing. It's
difficult to describe when you go against every odds that is against you. I prefer it like that.
I don't like when everybody is, you're the best, you're the one or all this. I prefer them throwing
out all this, whatever they throw out. I show them they're all wrong because that stimulates me even
more. When you're good at something, people recognize you. People take notice. People
want something or become known for the people. Like I'm on the field, I'm trying to be outside.
I always give energy, positive energy. I give time, especially for kids, the older ones,
the adults. All the love you get in the stadium, all the energy you get in the stadium, the
give back. If I cannot give it back on the field, I try to give
outside the field. We shouldn't also forget that I'm a human being just like everybody else.
I have feelings. I have emotions just like everybody else. I try to give back as much
as possible in a natural way. I don't try to build up an image that somebody likes,
but it's not being myself. I need to be myself. If I'm not myself, I don't feel comfortable.
I think I try to teach them to be independent in the future, to make them understand how the
world works, how people work, to have respect for people, happiness, and work hard. Because
if you don't work hard, according to me, you don't arrive in places you want to arrive. You don't
achieve objectives you put up in your head. You need to work for everything you want and everything
you do. That is more or less the way I try to raise them and I raise them outside my profession.
The Zlatan Ibrahimovic soccer player, they have nothing to do with that.
I think it's a result of me being who I am. By saying that, it's why be normal when you
can be the best. I don't like to be among many where everybody says he's just like everybody
else. No, no. I go out from that group where they point the finger and say, this guy is different.
He can do different things. And that is what I work hard for. I want to be as complete as possible
and be able to do it better than other ones. Because we play soccer, yeah, it's collective,
yes. But in the end, it's survival mode because being among many, it means that another person
can do your job. And when I enter in a field, I say to myself, nobody else can do what I do.
Nobody can do my job.
